Sens Talk / We have a good core...
« on: January 16, 2021, 12:52:11 PM »
...I think. Haven't watched a game in years but it seems we have a few players drafted in the first round. Hopefully they don't sign with other teams after their rookie contracts are done. Depends on management if they're better than the old guard and they don't mismanage this young core. Possibly the last chance to get things going for this franchise... It's not hard to imagine this franchise being moved in the next 5 years if this don't turn around.

Hello to the old posters if any are still around ;)

Is the multiplayer aspect fun? I've never been a multiplayer type but I'm hearing that more people are exclusively into multiplay than signle campaigns. I'd like to try sometime.

I am playing Red Dead Redemption now. Its the most impressive game I have ever played. It plays like a first-rate hollywood western. The open world where you could just ride your horse, shoot outlaws, wolves, birds, your own horse (You whistle and it comes back), and much more. Its so much fun. It will become a movie no doubt.

I also played Halo Reach and it had the best and most moving ending to a game I've ever seen. The second best game I've ever played, best shooter ever.

I played Bioshock 2 and it was very good but got boring. The moral decisions you had to make in the game make the game really tough to play (In a good way).

I want to play Bayonetta next. I'm also thinking about Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, and Dead Space 2.

Any suggestions?

Other Sports Talk / Minneapolis Metrodome dome collapse footage from inside

Wow! The was the snowstorm that we were supposed to be under today except we get frz rain.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsyAWK5OOBA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Not unlike the Jets collapsing against the Patriots last week. Althought 'collapse' implies originally being somewhere high and the Jets obviously weren't. So I guess they simply fell on their face.

Are we allowed to bring them to sens games? Why not?!!! Consider the home ice advantage we would have with 20,000 vuvuzelas.

Anything But Hockey / So I've just been fired
« on: June 04, 2010, 05:43:20 PM »
Crappy feeling. After I graduated in December it took me 3 months to find this job. It was a really good opportunity for a fresh grad.

I took over as store manager of an unprofitable Tim Hortons. I worked 9-12 hours a day. I worked extra days. I never got paid a penny over my 40 hours. I never asked to get paid. I just did my best. But in less than 3 months they expected me to turn things around. I turned alot of things around. When I started the store had just failed a Tim Hortons inspection. It looked like shit. I fixed alot of things. As soon as I was let go 3 staffers walked off the floor and quit.

I just don't think they gave me enough time. I was a good manager who showed my employees respect and appreciation. They basically wanted me to be an *******. Its just not me. I got my minimum wage employees to care about things they didn't really need to care about, to do things they didn't really need to do, and to go above and beyond what was expected of them. But the bottom line was that I didn't cut down cost and increase revenue, cut down labour hours to the level the owners wanted (Impossible), and I did not achieve a 25 second average per car on drive thru from 6-10 am on a regular basis.

I'm upset because I really feel I got shafted. But I really enjoyed working there and it was invaluable experience. Atleast the owners said that it was a difficult decision because of my unmatched commitment and dedication and for that they're giving me a letter of recommendation. But its back to Job Bank for me. I'm both relieved and sad. No longer on call 24/7 the burden is lifted but no more work.

I can say I learned alot about management, creating relationships, and about myself.

Anything But Hockey / iphone VS Sony Erricson xperia X10
« on: April 13, 2010, 06:56:37 PM »
I'm torn between the two. Can I listen to team 1200 with an Xperia X10 phone? Does it need an app for that? Or can I just navigate to team 1200 and click on 'listen live'? It doesn;t have nearly as many apps as the iphone but it has a 1 Mhz CPU (Compared to the 600 Mhz iphone CPU).

Anything But Hockey / iPad

Whatdyathink?

A 1 ghz Apple A4 CPU. I don't know how fast that is compared to an intel chip. I'm very interested in the ipad. I want something small, light, and fast enough for the net. I was considering a netbook but I'm not sure anymore. I don't play PC games anymore so I'd use an ipad or a netbook mostly for surfing the net.

I've never used a mac before so I have no idea how different their OS is compared to windows.

Anything But Hockey / The worst THREAD of the year

I'm sure you all disagree. But its daylight savings time tonight. Meaning one LESS hour of sleep and longer days. People with S.A.D. I'm sure are happy. I'm the opposite I prefer shorter days and longer nights (And snow).

Anything But Hockey / In over my head
« on: February 28, 2010, 04:21:53 PM »
I fixed up my cover letter recently. And ever since I've been getting alot of calls. I have 3 interviews lined up this week. All 3 positions I feel I will need to be trained for a little. People have been telling me that its a really good and honest cover letter. I know I need to be confident but I can't help but think that I'm in over my head.

Anything But Hockey / I LOVE women!
« on: January 29, 2010, 10:08:00 PM »
Ok I love women. But I graduated in December and I still can't find a job. According to this government website 90% of bookkeepers are female and 82% of accountants are female. Why??? How am I supposed to find a job? It makes sense that electrical engineers are 90% male or pilots are 94% males. But why accountants? Had I known this 5 years ago I would've picked another major.

Even managers are 56% female. I know I need to be patient but I've applied to some 100 jobs and had 1 interview (Waste of $15 parking at constitution square).

How am I supposed to find a freakin job? I have no connections. Minimal accounting experience.

No signal all day. Some people told me to use a broom. Others told me to spray it with winshield washer fluid. I think either option will void the warranty. I'm not missing football for freezing rain!

A hair drier? Its raining lightly. Its one of these instances my dad used to warn me about. 'Stop and think before you do it'. Hmm.
