« on: May 09, 2014, 08:37:05 AM »
I REALLY hope this isn't costing anyone money to run the site., I can only wonder how long it is until this forum gets shut down?

I check it everyday still but there are rarely any new posts.. Its really been a blast talking with you all over the years but we have what, 2 maybe 3 active members now? I know its the off season right now for us but I've noticed this over the past year..

Just wondering what ownership see's in our future ?

1) Hemsky says he wants to keep his options open, when asked about contract status... edit- Also that he would like to be on a playoff team.....
2) Spezza rumors are running wild... More so than usual..
3) One of which says Send keep Paulrus or Spezz... Can't be both... Any truth to the rumor these guys don't see eye to eye?

General Hockey Discussions / TSN will no longer carry NHL games
« on: November 26, 2013, 06:45:03 AM »
@TSNBobMcKenzie: TSN's national rights package for NHL games expires at end of this season and isn't being renewed. NHL to announce new CBC-Rogers deal Tues.

This really sucks...... I prefer tsn coverage to sportnet in a huge way....

for Silfverberg, Noesen and a 1st rounder...

Holy garbage

I guess theres your Alfie replacement BIlly...

Already a response from Ryan regarding the trade..

Bobby Ryan (@b_ryan9) - Ottawa.... Im coming in hot

Losing Silf and Noesen will hurt more if Bobby Ryan doesn't re-up. He's only under contract for 2 years.

Anything But Hockey / Another Big Move for us
« on: May 06, 2013, 09:46:48 PM »
Well, it's not for sure yet..
But me and my GF may be moving to Ottawa after all these years.
We frequently visit the city and there are a number of job opportunities there for her (Dental Hygienist) so we figured we may as well explore the possibility of moving over there.

We took the year to see if we could make things work in our home town but we don't have the connections to pull it off. We came close when a position opened up for her but the secretary had a brother with a new GF from out of town who got the job. This one ended up costing up $700 but thats a whole different story.

But, We've decided to not wait anymore.

She has applied to a few dental places in Kanata and Ottawa and hopefully within the coming months we will hear something good.

It's not the biggest news in the world and most of you may not care, but I just wanted to share it with someone. We are pretty excited and hopeful....

Keep your fingers crossed for us, the competition for Hygienists in Ontario is pretty fierce.

General Hockey Discussions / 2013 General chat.
« on: January 21, 2013, 01:06:22 PM »
I know there is a 2012/2013 general but Ill start a new thread for the sake of it... It is a shortened season afterall and there was no play in 2012...

Watching a few of the games this past few days I can clearly see who the players who went overseas are. They, almost all, seem to be a step or two ahead of the non-playing guys..

Goaltending everywhere seems to be a little sketchy.

Watching the Pens games, both James Neal and Malkin are both pretty incredible players.
Malkin makes hockey look so easy.
Another notable for their team is Tyler Kennedy. Does that guy ever zip around the ice and make things happen (also a pending UFA).

Sens Talk / Sens Equipment sale
« on: August 02, 2012, 10:37:14 AM »
Does anyone know when this is happening or if it already has ?
Ive been trying to get some pro-return Sens pants for a while now and have had no luck.
I can get ahold of almost ANY other team goalie pants, just not Ottawa.
Players pants arent a problem, but I dont need those.

Sens Talk / 2012 Off-Season chat.
« on: April 29, 2012, 08:47:51 AM »
To me, this is the off season.
I have zero interest in watching the rest of the playoffs, unfortunately (although I'll add a Go Kings or Preds).
So my thoughts have already turned to the off season.
The list this time around, is

RFA
Foligno
Daugavins
Regin
Klinkhammer
O'Brien
Karlsson

UFA
Winchester
Konopka
Kuba
Carkner
Gilroy
Auld

Possible additions
Zibenejad
Silvferberg
Stone

Question mark
Alfie.

Anything But Hockey / 2012 Federal Budget
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:45:25 PM »
Has anyone posted about this or do we steer clear of the political banter in order to keep the peace around here.

Great, no more penny, so everything gets rounded up.... :(

Retirement age goes to 67  :???

Deregulating Environmental Assessments on Oil and Mining... TERRIBLE. I work in Nat.Res and the standards set in the EA's right now are already so minimal, and the mining companies dont even meet those standards.
But Harper wants the oil sector to grow 75% in the next year alone.... My God.

There is also a reported 400 Health Canada jobs being cut, and up to a 40% cut in funding to Scientific Technical jobs.

Im just curious what everyones take on this is.

I dont have enough info as to which types of jobs are being cut (clerks, secretaries, assistants, managers??) The deregulation of EA's is the burning point for me.....

Sens Talk / Looking Ahead.... 2012/13 season..
« on: October 31, 2011, 11:09:45 AM »
Just looking at this in another thread and its quite interesting that we have alot of space next season.
We have 36.8 mill in contracts.
And the Emery/Cheecho/Alfie buyouts are finally off the books.

RFA
Da Costa
Foligno
Regin
Daugavins
Karlsson
Lee

UFA
Winchester
Konopka
Kuba
Carkner
Auld

I expect a few to not return for sure, but it's going to be interesting how it all plays out since our guys are playing for contracts....

I'm not too stoked on the UFA list next season, though there are a few good players available.

as per TSN
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=375760

While technically not really that bad, still shows that some mismanagement has been going on here..
Always found it odd Texas had an NHL team.. I would expect these guys to go down before New Jersey.... Crazy how things work
