Top Prospects & Binghamton Senators / Re: Kleinendorst Resigns
« on: May 23, 2012, 11:00:21 PM »
The news conference was just held to confirm the head coaching position with the Bingo assistants retaining their positions (Stirling and I can't think of the other one's name) which likely makes sense and with Richardson going back and forth from Ottawa to Binghamton over the past couple of seasons he likely already has a decent relationship with them.

His daughter graduates from high school here in Ottawa this year and  has accepted a hockey scholarship to Cornell for the fall.  The move comes at a good time for the family as she embarks on her post-secondary schooling and he embarks on his head coaching career (other than his daughter's current team!).

Good luck, Luke!!

And Cornell is only an hour away from Binghamton.

If Crosby stay's healthy, that's your Stanley Cup winning team this year!  :icon_bowdown2:

Can I get an AMEN!!!

Sens Talk / Re: Brian Lee headed to Tampa for Matt Gilroy #NHL

If I recall correctly, according to Bingo fans (maybe Classmate can clear this up for me) Brian Lee was just one giant a-hole when he had to go spend some time in Binghamton.

True story.    The coach even got a bit fed up with him.  He was such a prima donna.  Too bad because when he first came to Bingo he was a nice guy who seemed to want to work hard.

He won you a Calder Cup, so he deserves a break. ;)

Well first of all, he wasn't the one who got us to the playoffs. (Can you say BARRRRRYYYYY)  Second, I think there were other players on the team and while Lehner played well, it was the D-Men in front of him who made a lot of the difference.

Just saying, Lehner has a long way to go.

Robin Lehner's record this season is 7-16-1.... so when do you want him back????

Kinda look's like Ottawa still has that old pesky "goalie problem" don't it.

6
Patrick played again tonight. His first game in 7 weeks.   Before hand the coach had said they were concerned how he would react to the flying puck but he was very comfortable and didn't seem "jerky" at all.  He played a few shifts in the first period but I don't remember seeing him play much the rest of the game.  After, he said it was like summer since he was out so long.  (Yes if part of your summer vacation is spent on a respirator.)  It was great to see him back though that's for sure.

As a parent, I can only imagine how his parents felt about him going back out there.   :fear: :fear: :fear:

Top Prospects & Binghamton Senators / Anyone hear any news about.....
« on: January 27, 2012, 10:45:23 AM »
a new agreement between Ottawa and Binghamton?  Last June it was reported that something should be done by the beginning of the season yet still no word out yet.  Any rumors up there???  It's pretty damn quiet down here.

Send Alex Auld to Bingo.  Lehner is in a sophomore slump and the back up here isn't any better.  Seems like Lehner does better when he has someone to compete against.  Maybe Auld could give him a run for his money like Brust did last season.

Sens Talk / Re: 2012 ALL STAR GAME (Weekend in Ottawa Jan.26 to Jan.29)

The crowd at the draft are an embarrassment to Ottawa.
:icon_agree:

I think some of the players thought so too.  The looks on their faces when the booing began told that story.

I thought the Leaf fans were obnoxious when I saw a game in Ottawa a couple times   :icon_fryingpan: but the fans booing the Leaf players last night were just as bad or worse IMHO.   These players are all super stars no matter who they play for.  Why can't people just enjoy the fun atmosphere that normally goes along with the All Star Games?

A little late with this I know but I wanted to say a big Congratulations to Brian Elliott for joining this year.  He was picked his first year for the AHL All Star game but Ottawa had called him up and he wasn't able to attend.  I always liked Brian and never liked the way he was handled by Ottawa.  But then, most of you already know that.  Anyway, good for him.

Also kinda glad to see Ov not attending this year and thrilled to see James Neal being picked to replace him.

Hubby and I will be in Atlantic City for the AHL All Star festivities.  They had a great deal for the Caesars Palace Hotel, just $49 a night.      We are going just for that reason.

Enjoy the break from the season and BTW: Who does everyone think will be picked last this year?

Has anyone heard any updates on Wiercioch's condition?

Patrick has been at practices, watching mostly but has been on the ice.  He is still seeing specialist and Kleinendorst said it will be a long haul for him.

There seems to be some conflicting reports going on. Classmate above says he came back on the ice, while other Bingo fans who were also there are saying he didn't come back.  :icon_questionable:

This was reported in our local paper.

Quote
"I (Lehner) heard some stories through the internet like I came back. That's not true. I don't remember me coming back on the ice or stuff like that, either". (Ed. note: When questioned about that idea again later, Lehner admitted he may have tried to come back and just lost that memory in the emotion of the situation. I am fairly certain he got a skate back on the ice before officials shoved him off for the rest of the night.)

I saw what she saw, he did attempt to return but only got half way back onto the ice.

Even Kleinendorst said he was surprised he only got 3 games.

Today Robin claims he left the crease because he saw the Syracuse goalie skate into the corner where all the action was taken place.  He said he didn't want one of his team mates to have to fight and extra man.   :paddle:   He also said he will not argue with any action the league takes against him and would come back "hungrier" then ever.

We should know something in soon.  I only wish we had a better back up goalie to cover for him.  No "BARRY BARRY" down here this year I'm afraid.

He should get a few especially if he came back on the ice after being escorted off.  That should be 10 games just for that part.

Why did he even come down the ice?  The other goalie wasn't involved and it wasn't like the Bingo Sens were all getting whupped.  It all looked fairly even to me.

To be honest, it looked like Lehner was in the mood for a good fight.  Or else he was looking for a reason to be kicked out of the game since I am betting he was going to be pulled soon anyway.

I was there and two things, first, who knows what he was saying to the officials and and second, what the video didn't show was that he actually came back onto the ice a minute later when it looked like he had gone to the locker room and went another round with the linesman.

To be honest, he was very frustrated with the fact that is was his first game back after an injury and he was letting an awful lot of soft goals in.  When he skated down the ice he had a very determined look on his face although it was pretty clear the Syracuse goalie wanted nothing to do with him.  When Emery got an abuse of officials penalty, back in the day, he was originally suspended for 10 games however the Sens were able to talk it down to 6.  Being that tomorrow is a holiday, it will be a while before knowing what will happen to Robin.

This seems to be the way of the B-Sens this season.  Just can't catch a break.   :shake:   After winning the Calder Cup, all we would like to see this season so far is the team crawling out of last place.... of the league.

Just an update.  Patrick is getting a second opinion from a doctor in Boston regarding the damage done to his vocal cords and windpipe.  Reports are he is doing very well though.   :drink:

Patrick was released from the hospital today.   :ccclapping:   He will finish recovering at his home in Binghamton.  Here's to you Patty..... :drink:

Say hello to Nikulin and Zubov.   :shake:

Luckily the hospital is only 5 minutes away and there is always an ambulance on stand by at the Arena.  He is seeing a throat specialist in Syracuse.  Hopefully they will be able to help him there.

He is being moved to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.  Can't be very good if they are doing that.       He is in stable condition to be moved but they aren't saying much more than that.  How sad for everyone.  This has to affect those young teammates of his.  Sad so sad.
