Even at 3-0 I wasn't confident of keeping that lead!

The Sens scored on an overtime Powerplay that wasn't a Powerplay. More great work by the refs.  :spin:

Yeah I saw that Metal and Chara was still on the ice when the puck was well into the Bruins zone. He should've also been called on an interference penalty on Burrows as he deliberately stops him from jumping up on the play.

Great road win in the end!

Chara could be called for interference almost every shift. But just like Pronger and Niedermayer 10 years ago, he has carte blanche to do almost anything out there.

I did notice that the refs were a little one sided last night.....
Time passes, things change, the Sens WILL WIN the CUP.
edit -  Hopefully within my lifetime.......

Well, Busy Busy in here suddenly.  Refs always suck, but I'm just happy in the end it was Boston sitting in the box for the winner.   :ccclapping:

Not mine, but telling nonetheless. :)

As for the OT winner, sure, it wasn't the greatest call, but what about that Turris penalty that ended up gaving the Bruins the tying goal on a 5-3 (technically 5-4 but Turris wasn't back in the play) after Phaneuf's slash. We could play what-if all day long after every game.

Oh, I saw that, Chara took a dive me thinks and Turris ended up in the box as you said.  Works both ways right?

I think we are all old enough to "NOT"  let bad reffing interfere with a good game.  God knows, Sens have had their share of BS over the years ,,,, no doubt.

I've been a little disconnected from hockey recently. But I'm curious what you guys think of Phaneuf. He seems polarizing. Why is that? Wasn't he a top echelon dman in the league?

My opinion is that Phaneuf was never a #1 dman, but was cast (and subsequently paid) as such in Toronto. Of course, he doesn't live up to those expectations and therefore gets shit on for it. Phaneuf at $4.5-$5 million wouldn't get anywhere near the criticism he currently gets. He can be an effective #3, as long as his partner has some wheels to make up for his slowness.

I stand by what I said somewhere else in that I hope Phaneuf uses the summer to work on his skating with a skating coach. If he could get just a little faster he'd be a lot more lethal out there.

I agree Metal, he needs to be a bit quicker but then again it's why they partner him with Ceci and/or Karlesson.

Doc, I think Phaneuf was a monster when he played in Calgary.  But as Metal mentioned, He was cast in the wrong role in Toronto.  We're already seeing some benefit to Dion just being able to focus on his game without the distractions.  It's all good.  We are going to need his big body moving forward.

Definitely a good situation for him here away from the toxicity that is the Toronto market. I remember when he was in Calgary he was solid.

Yip, loved him in his Calgary days and always wanted him on the Sens D. The Toronto move, like you all said, was the wrong situation for him, far too much expectation on a guy who can't deliver at that level.

When he is left to it, with no pressure, that's when he comes up big and he's showing that with us I think. Still takes some stupid penalties now and again though and I'm like, "What the hell Dion?!"

What a game last night.  I still can't believe Karlsson got that puck to Ryan.   :icon_bowdown2:

Hope we wrap this up tomorrow night and our boys can rest up for the next round.  But as they say, game 4 is always the hardest to win so I won't be disappointed in the B's steal another from us on Home ice.

is it time for a new 2017 Playoff Thread?  LOL
