The Ottawa Senators placed left wing Denis Hamel on waivers Friday afternoon, perhaps paving the way for his return to Binghamton.

If no other NHL team claims Hamel by noon on Saturday, he will be eligible to be re-assigned to Binghamton, where he scored a franchise-record 56 goals last season.

The Ottawa Senators today recalled left-winger Danny Bois from the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators on an emergency basis to play in his first NHL game tonight against the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center. He will replace captain Daniel Alfredsson, who suffered a lower body injury in the Senators 4-2 win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

Bois, a 23-year-old native of Thunder Bay, Ont., has eight goals, five assists and 36 penalty minutes over 17 games with Binghamton this season. He has nine points (6+3=9) in the last eight games. Bois missed six games because of a face laceration.

After a four-year junior career with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, Bois signed with the Senators as a free agent in April 2004. In three professional seasons in Ottawa’s organization, he has 68 points (42 goals and 26 assists) and 547 penalty minutes over 168 AHL games. He was originally drafted by Colorado in the third round, 97th overall, in the 2001 NHL draft.

The Lowell Devils tallied three power-play markers, while also collecting four goals in the last period on their way to a 6-2 victory over the Binghamton Senators on Wednesday night in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The Senators offense was held in check until the third period, as Ryan Vesce struck on the power play for his fourth tally of the season to make it a 4-1 contest.

Justin Papineau answered for the Devils, as he collected his second goal of the night just thirty seconds after the Vesce tally.  Papineau ended the night with four points (2+2=4) as he earned first star honors.

After two additional Lowell markers, Serge Payer buried his third marker of the season.

Binghamton Senators goalie Kelly Guard was replaced by Jeff Glass at 11:55 of the third period, as Guard took a knee to the head during a Lowell break.

Lowell goalie Jordan Parise, who collected 42 saves against the Senators on Nov. 4, ended the night with 37 saves.

The Senators return home on Friday to host the Syracuse Crunch.  Good seats are still available for Friday’s game against Syracuse.  Fans can purchase tickets at the following locations:  Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.), Binghamton Senators executive office, third floor of the Arena (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on game days until the end of the second period.), www.binghamtonsenators.com or by calling (607) 722-SENS.
