Anything But Hockey / 2011 protests
« on: February 24, 2011, 01:59:49 PM »
Well, all of the sudden, North African countries have realized that there leaders are idiots and have started protesting. It was successful in Tunisia and Egypt. Its still going on in Algeria and the way things are going in Libya is just against Human rights. The Libyan leader is just killing anyone in the east regardless of who they are. According to some reports over 1300 people have died already. His speeches since the protests have started are just stupid. Even his son. I think countries should start taking action against Gaddafi. Its not like only Libyans are dieing. Foreigners are also dieing.

Other Sports Talk / 10-11 NBA talk
« on: November 09, 2010, 10:24:53 AM »
Things are really exciting in the NBA. There are so many contenders for the cup. So far 2 teams remain lossless (Hornets and the lakers).

Kobe has been playing good but the player that has been the most surprising is Ellis from Golden state. He is leading the league. And the Heat are not really owning. They really haven't been tested yet.

Raptors are struggling without Bosh with a 1-6 recor so far.

I am cheering for the lakers and I am totally against the Heat. Cleveland is also struggling without James.

Although the raptors haven't been that good, Reggie Evans who was invisible before bosh left, has been a monster. He is averaging 13rpg and is second in league rebounding, Even better than Howard!!!

Most of you are either cheering for the raptors or for the Suns because of nash :D  :laugh2:

General Hockey Discussions / Chris Chellios Officially retires
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:53:50 PM »
I think its better to say it here than to say it in the Off-season section because he was a great player and he has retired

3 time Norris trophy winner, one of the best defensemen when he was in his prime. 26 seasons in the National Hockey League. Thats not something many players can do or did. Maybe not good in the past few years but you have to give him credit for still being there and keeping the energy going!

But it was about Damn time ( no offense to him )

Other Sports Talk / 2010 Fiba world championship
« on: August 06, 2010, 01:27:10 AM »
Its gonna start in the end of the month. I know not many people care about it but it is the biggest international basketball event.

If only steve nash wasn't an idiot and he agreed to play for The Canadian national team, I would have went for Canada. But since he isn't, I guess I will be going for The United states of America :D

Imagine Spain wins again :D

BTW its going to take place in turkey (not much of a basketball country).

So who are you guys going for?

Other Sports Talk / Henry joins New York red bulls

I don't think this is a good idea. He scored 4 goals in Barcelona when he was playing with the worlds best play-makers. If anyone saw how he played in the world cup, he would know that this is a bad idea. He was given so many chances to score but he always missed them.

I wish him the best of luck. Hopefully he finds his way in NYC.

Well since all the James, wade, bosh drama happened, I thought I would ask you guys about your favorite now.

Chris bosh Joins wade in Miami and leaves toronto with nothing
http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=326828

The raptors are screwed. Unless bargnani and Derozan don't step up, raptors are getting the first overall pick. Miami is probably gonna win the NBA championship next year.

Whats with all teams sucking in toronto (Leafs 29th Blue Jays are losing most of their games, toronto FC was ranked (there are only 16 teams) and they haven't been any good in CFL). The raptors are the worst of them all. They never made it to the Semi-finals

Anything But Hockey / 20th century wars
« on: July 05, 2010, 10:41:32 AM »
I started this topic to talk about the wars that happened or started in the 20th century. And what the world can do to prevent the wars that happened. I think the worst of all the wars was world war 2. Hitler was the strongest force and he killed a lot people. What can the world do to prevent this from happening?

Well the UN should not let any racist people in governments. They should not let super-powers fight each other.

World war 1 in my opinion was the second worst war in the 20th century.

In my opinion the third worst war in the 20th century was the soviet-afghan war. Over 1.4m people died in afghanistan. At that time the soviets were the super powers of the world. And afghans were just a weak nation. The UN did not do much about it. The US helped by providing weapons for the afghans. Somehow the afghans won that war. Maybe because of their courage.
How can the UN prevent this from happening again?

They need to keep in touch with all of their super powers and not let them attack weak countries. The soviets' reason of attacking Afghanistan was not good enough. UN should support weak innocent countries in war.

The forth worst war in my opinion was the Yugoslavian war. The serbians were very racist and they killed half a million people with in a decade. And this is in EUROPE. The UN didn't take action until the serbians had already killed thousands of other Yugoslavs (mostly bosnians). What can the UN do to prevent this kind of war?

When there is any sign of war, the UN must take action and stop it. NATO should have been sent to Yugoslavia earlier.  No tolerance to criminal acts and racist acts of countires.

The fifth worst war in my opinion is the Palestinian-israeli war. It has still now finished and Millions have died. The war has been going on since 1948 (the formation of Isreal). The have left Palestine with very little land. The UN does not recognize palestine for some reason. They are not trying their best to end this war. They think that the palestinians are just gonna give their land to the israelis just like that. The UN didn't even try to prevent this war and the UN is doing nothing about the Palestinians right now.

So what are your thoughts? Any other major wars that were/are worst than these wars(in the 20th century)?

Other Sports Talk / Lakers win championship AGAIN
« on: June 18, 2010, 09:50:08 AM »
Lakers won the NBA championship again. And Kobe wins the MVP again. I watched the game. It wasn't that exciting but Gasol was playing very well. Kobe always had like 2-3 guys guarding him, thats why couldn't play so well. Celtics were pretty close. At one point they were winning by 10. Then they lost their lead

Anything But Hockey / Robin hood 2010
« on: May 24, 2010, 12:46:53 PM »
I just watched it and I am disappointed. It doesn't relate to the original story. No John Little and there is no Shreiff(the evil one in the book) . Apparently here he ACTS as the sheriff's son. It was boring except the end. The rest was soooo boring. I liked the older version.

General Hockey Discussions / Vazina winner?
« on: April 23, 2010, 03:14:54 PM »
Who do u think will win the vazina trophy?? I don't think its going to be brodeur. I think it is going to be luongo or Miller. But I hope luongo wins it. He has been playing great since the day he was drafted but has never won the vazina award.
