Check on here every once in a while. Hopefully, we can all crank this board back up to where it used to be.

Heads up for this Saturday afternoon, the national game will be the Jets-Senators except for BC, Alberta, and SW Ontario. Those areas will get Oilers-Red Wings. There has been a change on the Sens schedule, the April 2 against the Bruins will now be on SN East which means no games on SN Sens this season.

Actually, the fact that it's in French MIGHT be reason for the blackout not to apply to that station. As for Rogers and cancelling, they are a pain with the entire service, but for individual channels/packages, they are not a problem at all.
That's right, TVA Sports is not blacked out and the same goes for RDS. Getting TVA Sports is worth it since only one of their 22 games is on TSN. On RDS, 8 Sens games are already on HNIC and TSN which leaves just five games where RDS is needed.

Good news, this Saturday the Pens-Sens will be the national game! :happy dance: The Rangers-Leafs game has been demoted to regional status.  :icon_thankyou:

The Feb. 15 game, Ottawa at Florida, will be shown to those only with Centre Ice. The scoreboard video and the Panthers radio feed will be used.
The quality of these telecasts is a joke from what I have been told. The graphics are totally dated and the video feed too so be prepared to go back to the 70s and 80s. The NHL Network will presumably provide live look ins with this feed.

The Oilers-Sens Feb. 11 game on HNIC will not be the national game. Alberta and Quebec and most of Ontario will get this game. The rest of the country gets the Jets-Penguins. It is surprising that the Feb. 15 game, Ottawa at Florida, is still untelevised!

Double coverage for all of you from Ottawa to Newfoundland as SNET East and TSN Habs are both showing the game. Most Centre Ice carriers will have both feeds available too. Triple coverage with RDS!

The Senators french TV schedule has been updated. It is still 65 games with 38 on TVA Sports, 21 on RDS, and 6 on RDS2.

Not quite the case anymore. January 7 and 21 the Sens are playing in the afternoon and are going to be shown on Sportsnet.
That's right, Sportsnet can televise some of the afternoon games that the CBC decides not to televise on HNIC. The CBC still gets first pick at those games and the Sat. games that they don't choose must be moved to the afternoon instead of the evening. The Ducks game on Jan. 21 was originally to start at 7 PT, 10 ET. While it's nice that Sportsnet can televise it, it still sucks because it is a regional game and Centre Ice is needed. Regional games on HNIC can be seen on time shifter channels and on the CBC website.

It's amazing that there will be about 60 Senators games on French TV next year.
For sure that is good for the Franchise, not all Quebecer
s like the Habs, beleive it or not!
You're right, 65 is the total. The big news is that TVA now has 38 games, RDS has 21 and RDS2 with 6. The 20 games on RDSinclude the 6 against Montreal and is covered by the Habs crew.

Hey everyone, it looks like TVA Sports will start up in the middle of Sept and Rogers will be teaming up with them too.

Here it is,

So far there is just one game not televised, Sens at Panthers on Feb. 15. Have no worries, the Feb. 15 game is on a Wednesday with a 95% chance it being on TSN2. It would be ridiculous if it wasn't televised after having all 82 games on last year.

The totals are:

52 on Sportsnet (45 on SNET East, 7 SNET Sens)
19 on HNIC
10 on TSN

General Hockey Discussions / Habs english regional TV deal
« on: October 22, 2010, 04:37:31 AM »
A bit of surprise here as TSN has secured a regional TV deal for the next three seasons for the Canadiens including this season. There will be 24 games this season and the region covers the same area as the Senators.

Great News Folks
All 82 games available for fans at home...

:happy dance: :ccclapping:
It is nice to see the TV column showing no blanks.  It just took way longer than it should have.

When you say the Canucks averaged more viewers on regional broadcasts, do you mean on Sportsnet? Because the argument could be made that HNIC draws a lot more casual hockey fans, based on exactly what you said about a generation of Leaf fans raised by CBC. I'd still bet the Leafs are the biggest draw in Canada when you combine die hard and casual fans, especially casual fans who tune in on Saturday nights out of habit.
The Habs do beat the Leafs on Saturday nights, RDS puts the Habs numbers over the Leafs. The hard core and casual fans also are higher for the Habs. TSN did a poll last season and the Habs were on top.

Sens Talk / Re: More Sens games on TV this year

Too bad only a couple of those 18 CBC games will actually be broadcast in any significant way. And it's Saturday too, the one night the Sens play when I have an excuse to drink. When will their Saturday monopoly end? Watching games online just doesn't cut it anymore.

It's hard to feel satisfied with the Sens broadcast situation when Saturdays continue to be a problem.
You hit the target dead centre. The drop in Saturday games and TSN2 games also hurts for fans outside the Sens region. There are only seven less national TV games this season compared to last season. I wonder how many HNIC Sens games will be shown outside the Ottawa area?

Sens Talk / Re: More Sens games on TV this year

So far:

CBC: 18 games
TSN: 10 games
TSN2: 2 games
Sportsnet: 40 games (already announced, just not which games yet)
Sportsnet One: 15 games (already announced, just not which games yet)

That's 85 games, so some overlap, obviously (but I can't figure out where, since those stations never overlap usually).
It will be 12 games on Sportsnet One. The contract with the Senators is a four-year deal to broadcast up to 15 regular-season games. I was wondering about that too but reading the details clarified it.

This Rogers thing is going to get ugly. Like Scary posted, Rogers Cable is the only company to show SN1 which is their own channel. Rogers is hoping to have the upper hand in negotiations with other cable and satellite companies. It could backfire. Rogers played hardball in negotiating TSN2. I heard that Rogers lost quite few customers as they switched to satellite with Bell and Starchoice.
