If Murray becomes GM as well, then he should try to bring him over here. It would be nice to have an experienced defenseman over here.

I can imagine how this guy must have felt playing against his hometown team where he grew up. Congrats to him. :)

Sens Talk / Re: Should Murray stay as the head coach?

Of course he should stay as coach, he got our team all the way to the finals, what more can you ask for? Sure a cup win would have been great, but it all depended on the players to get the job done.

Make him GM as well. He built a great Anaheim team which defeated us.

Redden is going to go probably when his contract is expired. His salary is way high, and IMO he's not worth it for the type of defenseman he is- I mean look at Scott Neidermeyer and he's just about a half million bucks of a difference from Redden's salary, and Scott's a way superior defenseman.

One of our goalies is going to go for sure, maybe Gerber depending on what comes across. I think Emery is staying.

I'm so proud of them, great season Sens. Though you didn't win the cup, its just as rewarding to see you make the Stanley Cup Finals.

Haha, that's funny. But Alfie and Sundin did do a great job in the Olympics

Sens Talk / Re: Trade Spezza and sign Drury?

Well the first start to save salary is getting rid of Mr. Gerber, he's a sold backup, but extremely pricy and plays less games. Bring a cheaper backup goalie, there's no need to dish out so much money on  a backup

I can't think of anybody else.

Spezza is fine. He didn't play as good this series, but he should stay around. Heatly-Spezza-Alfie line is a great one though they were not as sharp in this series.

And I have a feeling Redden's going to have to go eventually- his salary is getting pretty high. As much as I hate to say it. Heck, his salary is higher than Alfie's who did far more for us these playoffs.

You never know with these agents though, anything is possible. Ray's salary is definitely going to skyrocket. I hope all goes well in the negotiations, because it can get nasty.

I think Gerber will probably be gone- his salary is a bit high for a backup. You could always go for Lalime as a backup, not as starter obviously haha but his $700 000 salary is not bad. Plus he's had just as much success as Gerber.

Heck no, Emery was superb in these playoffs. I'm so proud of this guy. Keep him! He's played unbelievable for his first playoffs. Not many goalies do that.

I don't know why Alfie made that movie to Scott Neidermeyer, but I'm sure he didn't have any bad intentions.

This is a sad situation for Ottawa. Hope Hasek gets better soon, but it certainly shows now that he's one delicate goaltender, and gets injured real easily. Anyways, I hope he gets better soon and he's healed up for the playoffs.

But Muckler must do something near the trade deadline,  you can always pick up Lalime.  :laugh2:

What do you mean too early?
He clearly has lost touch of fundamentals, most goals I see him letting in have to do with him going down to early, being out of position, trying to trap blocker side shots, and basically just being Lalime...

The excuses have been going on for years. Now that he is part of a non defensive team and has to earn his keep he is struggling even more. HE was never elite, just part of a defensive, conservative organization. He sucks, pure and simple.

The excuses will continue all year until they miss the playoffs. I am so glad we got rid of him....
I'm not defending him, of course he hasn't started off well with St.Louis- everyone pretty much agrees. But you can't just say that he'll suck when it hasn't been even long enough into the season.

Compare Jose Theodore who has a .855 save percentage, yet his team has gone 3-0 in the season so far. That's what you call a goaltender  who's  depending  on his defense for the win.

Lalime on the otherhand has a  .833 save percentage, yet his team has gone 0-3 in the season.

So who looks better of the two?

I personally think that its too early to judge Lalime anyways, wait 20 games into the season- and then see how he's doing.

Hey everyone, I haven't been on the boards for such a long time. This year, I didn't really sign up for NHL Centre Ice ( too expensive) so sadly I'm screwed as far as watching Sens games :(, sigh. Guess I'm stuck watching the Detroit Red Wings on my local network

And Dallas, lets not get even deep in to this topic. We should be worrying about Hasek instead.

As for Lalime, he certainly has started out like crap, but I guess it takes time for some people to get themselves fully adjusted into play hockey again. Especially since there hasn't been a season for a year. Hasek on the otherhand was constantly practicing and that's why he's been doing great so far into the new season.

Sens Talk / Hasek to play in 05-06
« on: June 16, 2005, 04:50:44 PM »
I haven't been keeping up lately with the hockey news, but I feel that we should just see how Hasek plays in maybe 15-20 games in the beginning of the season. If he's capable of doing the job, let him be the starter. If he can't do the job, then get Prusek in net.

Although I'm still not quite sure if I can handle seeing Prusek as the starter. His back tends to become wonky at times, and that can have a negative impact on the Sens during the postseason.

Sens Talk / Corel Centre to be renamed Scotia Place
« on: May 21, 2005, 09:52:47 AM »
I don't like the idea of naming it Scotia Place- it just doesn't sound right.

The Corel Centre sounds better obviously cause we're all used to it, and even the Palladium was a good name.
