I think some of you are displaying a misguided sense of history, when I was growing up in Eastern Ontario there were only two choices, the leafs and the habs, most people in Eastern Ontario supported the Habs. With the various expansions, more teams gave Canadians a bigger choice, but one thing held true, the CBC was going to focus on the Leafs and the Habs. The next big change started two years ago when Rogers and CTV won the right to start televising games that the CBC didn't carry and RDS got exclusive rights to the Habs. In the new contract you will find that the CBC will show less Leaf games because many viewers were abandoning HNIC in Canada to watch the Sens in the East. The Leafs are now in the position like their city, as the team we all hate. And it was embarrassing to the CBC to broadcast from an arena that wasn't always filled, when the other channel was showing a lively hockey game with enthusiastic crowds. Next season on HNIC should be different, because I know that fans in the maritimes were upset about CBC feeding them Toronto games when they wanted to watch the SENS. The CBC is a joke because it is a National Broadcaster with shows more in keeping with a local affiliate. At least CTV has the sense to have six regional centres to bradcast from.
