1-0 Calgary.

I really have no idea what Nabokov was doing on that goal.

Do or die for the Flyers today, I think. They lose this one and it's pretty much over.

1-0 Tampa with about 7 minutes left in the first.

Esche isn't very impressive lately. His rebound control is terrible.

Sens Talk / A ridiculously long post about the Sens/Leafs game.
« on: April 03, 2004, 10:37:50 PM »
Now that the game's over and it's a lot less painful, I'm not as angry or disappointed as I thought I would be.

I don't think the Leafs did anything extraordinary tonight. We all know what kind of game the team plays, so a grab-hook-trip-clutch fest was to be expected. That was an exhausted team on the ice, and they came out with all the passion that they could muster. Don't think for a minute that the boys didn't know what an important game this was. But the refs, while they might not have decided the game, completely gave Toronto all the momentum they needed to capitalize.

This was a classic Leafs game. Our skilled players were held up. Hossa couldn't move as soon as he got the puck due to sticks in his jersey. That's the Leaf game. They slow down the better teams with the more skill, because the physical side is the only thing the Leafs can win. We know this. No surprise. Nice move on Bondra, Domi. Very respectful. You're a true hero.

The only thing that REALLY irritated me was the booing of Alfredsson. This is Ottawa. This is his home ice. If ridiculous Leaf fans are still bitter about a JOKE that Sundin didn't even take seriously, then boo Alfie in Toronto until you choke. I don't care. But when he's on his home ice, have some respect.

A little class, Leafers. That's all we ask for.

Pulling Prusek? Maybe not the best move, I didn't think any of the goals were his fault. He didn't get any help from ANYBODY. The refs, the team, no one. He was left alone constantly. A goalie can't save that kind of game, I don't care if you're  The Precious Marty Brodeur.

I pity anyone who's playing the Sens the first round. If you don't think they've learned from this, you're going to be horribly mistaken. Expect them to come out flying, angry and desperate. This game tonight wasn't the end of the world, even though Leafs fans somehow think Ottawa's all of a sudden out of the playoffs just because of this evening.

Here's to a great season from our boys. Wasn't always fun, was sometimes hard to watch, but in the end they got their 100 point season. There were a lot of expectations going into this season, incredibly high ones and terribly hard to live up to. Slumps and goaltending controversy followed them around like the plague, but the last few games of the season was when the Sens finally started to come around and play the skilled, fast hockey we KNOW they're capable of.

They're going to get up from this, brush themselves off, and nobody will know what hit them. I have faith in them.

A tough season, but a rewarding one despite the setbacks and injuries. You have to take the good with the bad and I wouldn't put too much thought into the bad.

Bring the Cup to Ottawa, boys.

It's still our town, our team and our time.
