The Habs game is the national game.

Anyone know who is starting in nets for the Sens?  I've been wondering if Leclaire will be getting a start this weekend.  Although perhaps tomorrow is on the schedule for him.

Wonder what number Cullen will wear?  No. 8 is retired here in Ottawa (Frank Finnigan, I believe).

Ottawa vs. Detroit for CBC Ottawa, Windsor, and Peterborough

The commentators will be Bob Cole and Gary Galley. It is a bummer that this game is limited to such few areas.
The Senators are the hottest team in the league right now.

Cullen's listed as #7 on the Senators' website.

Just noticed, Cullen's actually on pace for a career year, pointswise atleast. He's got 40 points through 60 games. His career high is 49.

Announcer said "last game before the Olympics for both teams", which as we know, isn't true.

Wish I could get this in HD..

So did the kids represent their fathers in that ceremony or what? It seemed like it at first, then not. And what did Burtuzzi have to do with anything?

I just wish I could get this on tv. Let alone hd. Tomorrow's game isn't televised either.

Ya, this SD game looks like crap on an HD tv.

They had one kid wear the sweater of each nation, as well as all the olympians represent themselves.

I really like when Galley announces but Cole makes me crazy.  Shutting them down and turning on the Team1200.

It is stupid that no canadian channel can show the game. CityTV in Vancouver is showing the Canucks tomorrow. It is sad that the NHL Network is showing Nashville at Pittsburgh only.

Probobly my biggest pet peeve in hockey is players (defencemen especially) who completely stop playing, either to make it seem like they don't deserve a penalty, or to try and draw a penalty. All you're doing is either drawing attention to yourself, or giving up a possible scoring chance so thay you might get a powerplay. Just keep playing dammit, if it was a penalty, more often than not, it will be called, regardless of what you do.

(This comes from what Lee just did on top of what Picard did the other night)

Horrible decision by Michalek to bring the puck back into his own zone.

We can see which team wants the win more - and it's not Ottawa.

Not the greatest goal by Elliott on that first one, but that second one was an amazing deflection by Datsyuk. On that one however, Michalek should have shot it down the ice. He's no Alfie with the puck and had no business trying to stick-handle with the Detroit talent on that PP.

We WILL win this game! You know why? I'm switching to Survivorman. I watch we lose so I'm changing the channel now and if we come back and win I'll expect to be banned from the forum.

I don't know... apparently somewhere along the line Detroit turned into the new jersey devils. I guess they're not taking being mediocre too well. They've gone scorched earth.

I don't see 6 goals coming from the sens tonight. Watching this is like taking a cold shower after that caps game.

Kuba with the brutal clearing attempt leads to Detroit's 3rd goal, second one on the PP.  :bag:

Much, much self inflicted pain.  Spezza and Kovalev trying to stick handle through 2 or 4 players again and again and again.  2 of the 3 goals self inflicted.  The net mess on the first goal that should not have even been a scoring chance, and Michalek farting around with the puck at his blueline on the PK.  The third was a good heads up pass to catch Ottawa on the line change, that wasn't played to well by the Sens.

Cole is a running joke.  When the play is quick he just makes stuff up because he has no clue what is going on.  Really, really sad to hear him.

And with Buffalo beating SJ, the Sens go back to 5th.

Losing this game and dropping to 5th wouldn't be so bad except Buffalo still have 2 games in hand.

Detroit's a good team with as many elite players as any team in the league. I just don't like how this 3-1 game seems like an inevitable loss and has since Detroit first scored.

When teams are playing defensive they can't keep falling into the habit of turnovers at the offensive blue line and penalties because they get so frustrated.

I hope CBC gives Cole a slight push into retirement this summer.

Cole was absolutely brutal again tonight. An orgasm for each Wings goal and many Howard saves. Not to mention the constant mistakes. Kept calling Spezza as the goal scorer. The camera shows Regin after the goal, he still says Spezza. They show Regin actually score, still he says Spezza.  :laugh2:  It's time to put him out to pasture. A large part of the legacy he may have had has been ruined over the last few years. He's just a joke now.

I'm a newfoundlander and people are proud of Cole here. I think he's terrible. He's just so slow witted and lazy nowadays. There are a dozen moments every game he calls where I think, "really Bob? is that the best thing you could think of?". It's like he wings it every time he opens his mouth. The pregnant pauses in the middle of a sentence then the confused, cliched, redundant statement. Earlier tonight he said something like "these olympics... are shaping up to be the best olympics... in winter olympics history". There's no sharper way to say that? It took like 30 seconds.

Terrible game by the Sens.  No effort.  No energy.  No entertainment value.  Really bad. :shake:

The only thing 'good' about Cole's call tonight was that Healy wasn't on to egg him on.  Cole speaks less when he doesn't have one of his cohorts (Healy, Millen) with him to get topics started for him.  :icon_banghead:

So, yeah, nothing good to say about the broadcast tonight. :rolleyes

Cole is just so far past his prime or even being competent it is just sad to listen to.  I don't even get p'oed anymore, the people responsible for letting him continue should be ashamed. HNIC puts its cronies above standards, even if it diminished them.

I was thinking the same, then again 3 new faces in the lineup could be enough to screw up chemistry for now.

And against a smooth team like Detroit, it can make you look pretty silly (which happened last night).

Nobody else noticed that McGuire's magic word of the night was "sequence"?  I swear every time he opened his mouth sequence came out.  He must have used it three to four times describing EVERY play.

The CBC did not bother to assign anyone between the benches for last night's game in Detroit.  Garry Galley was the colour man for Bob Cole with the call last night.
