I'm having flashes of the past 2 years!  Poor defensive abilities, too many times are the Sens getting caught skating in circums in their own blue line.

Yep. Same old song and dance. The difference is I don't see them put together a 20+ games streak to end the season. They'll have to wake up and soon, or will find themselves on the outside looking in quickly. And let's not forget that in the NHL, if you're out by US Thanksgiving, your chances of making the playoffs are almost over already.

I had a bad feeling about the team not making ANY changes this year.  Didn't bring in a single player!  The miracle last year to make the playoffs was just that, it came down to Game 82 + other game outcomes.

Here's hoping Murray & Co see the issues and try to address it quickly.

I have no respect for Zach Smith after faking being high-sticked. There's no place for that crap in hockey.

I agree.  If there is any doubt the infraction should be reviewed and the appropriate penalties doled out.

That's exactly it. Hit in the chest by a stick, then grabs his face as if he got high-sticked and draws a penalty. I can't stand that crap.

I didn't like it, but many players do it.  I am sure there will be a few calls now that won't go his way as the refs may be less inclined to give him the benefit of the debt.

Not much different than the players with the magic chicken wing that clutches onto any stick that taps them on their side.    I'd like to see the refs make more "holding the stick" calls in these circumstances.  How many times do we see a player drop his end of the stick only to see it hang from the blade that is "hooked" into the armpit of the other player?  Yet the refs only call the hook, and not the holding the stick/unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

I seem to recall for a while more calls being made on the chicken wing (and I think Turris got one recently), but it has certainly dropped off for some reason.

Beauty Goal By Ryan. Have to admit it was a nice goal by Tatar  which found its way through one of Andy's many weak spots..... Again Anderson has shown he is not a no 1 goalie material. Time for some switching up. Hammond has shown over and over he deserve to be the No. 1 at least for now. Happy for the point we got.

Isnt Hammond injured again. I'd say it would be nive to see what O'Connor could do again but he's 0-1-0 in the NHL and 0-5-1 in the AHL.... Rough start.
I only caught the tying goal (a Beauty) and the brief OT.
Sens seemed a bit sloppy 3-on-3.

Looks like most teams (except the Sens) have figured out the OT. Allow the 3-on-2 and have your 3rd player roaming at center ice. Get the puck back and pass it to the cherry picker. Seems to happen against the Sens at least 3 times per overtime.

So how in gods name did we win that one against Dallas?  Other than Niemi sucking the big one!  40% scoring percentage at one point!

Then last night in Colorado they started off strong and faded in the 3rd.  Normally I would think its them losing their legs playing back to back and the change in altitude, but we have seen way to many times the Sens lose their lead in the 3rd.

Stop playing to protect the lead, you suck at it!

We may have seen it before, but they get a pass last night. Even Anderson was slouched in his net during whistle and TV breaks in the 3rd. It didn't help that Cameron thought it would be a smart move to shorten his bench in the 3rd. Granted Neil and Prince were unavailable for a while, but there's no excuse for not rotating your D in the 3rd period of the second game of a back to back when your guys are sucking wind at high altitude in Denver.

Last night's game against the coyotes was brutal... Such a boring game to watch. Sens barely made it past the neutral zone..

We're we watching the same game?  Aside from the late start to the 2nd period (which cost them the game), the Sens had much of the play in the Coyotes end.  Dominating in the first period, finally showing up in the second, and pretty even for most of the third with Ottawa putting in the pressure in the later portion.

All in all, 4 of 6 points on the 3 game road trip.  Not bad.
