Mike Lange let go by the Pens
« on: June 29, 2006, 05:04:24 PM »
He is one of the most famous play-by-play men out there. He had been working for them for 30 years. Not sure why the let him go but he shouldn't be out of a job for too long. I made a post a while back with all of his signature calls. I'll try to find that again.

Here it is:

Book 'em Dano.
Buy Sam a drink and get his dog one too.
Call Arnold Slick from Turtle Creek.
Get in the fast lane grandma, the bingo game is ready to roll.
Get that dog off my lawn.
Go ahead....Make My Day.
Great balls of fire.
Hallejulah Hollywood.
Heeeeeeeeeee shoots and scores.
He beat him like a rented mule.
He doesn't know whether to cry or wind his watch.
He's smiling like a butcher's dog.
How much fried chicken can you eat?
I'll be cow kicked.
Ladies and Gentleman, Elvis has just left the building.
Let's go hunt a moose on a Harley.
Look out Loretta.
Michael, Michael Motorcycle.
Never teach a pig to sing.
Oh no, Eddy Spaghetti.
Scratch my back with a hacksaw.
She wants to sell my monkey.
Stop the press.
He smoked him like a bad cigar.
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog.
You would have to be here to believe it.
And he takes the heat out of a hot kitchen.
Big Ben struck one.
Buzzing like beeeeeeeeeees around a hive.
He could have had lunch and dinner too.
He forgot one thing....the puck.
He gave the goalie more moves than Mae West.
He hasn't scored since the eighth grade picnic.
He got his hand caught in the cookie jar.
He left the defender on the parkway going to the airport.
He knocked him on his wallet.
He picked his pocket like he was walking down 5th avenue.
He's all over him like a new pair of shoes.
He should get 5 to 10 for robbery on that save.
He was hit so hard his kids will be born dizzy.
He would not be denied.
If you missed it, shame on you for six weeks.
It will take a miracle on Grant street for the team to come back from this deficit.
Lemieux is putting on the ritz.
More patience than Mercy Hospital.
He's like a bulldozer in a construction yard.
They're throwing out checks like it is the first of the month.
Rebound...there is no rebound.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the action.
They are throwing everything but the kitchen sink.
The turkey is on the table.
Twinkled the twine.
Wrrrrrrrrrrist shot.

and of course:

You can spit shine your shoes, the Pens are going dancing with Lord Stanley. Lord Stanley, Lord Stanley, bring me the brandy.

That's a pretty weak way to go out.  Surely someone will bring him in.

Rumour is that he's gonna be traded to Ottawa for Dean Brown and Steve Lloyd.

My sources tell me that the Pens would be willing to take Gord Wilson instead, as long as Patricia Bole is part of the package as well.

Actually,
It's Patricia Boal, and I very much doubt that the Ottawa Senators are going to get rid of Gordie anyways. I mean, he's been with the team since day one.

Hello CBC?

Yah, you need to get this guy.  PLEASE REPLACE BOB COLE.

But that would actually be a smart move, something the CBC seems bent on never doing.  (see Chris Cuthbert and Brian Williams)

Bob Cole is really old school. He's the pat summerall of hockey.  180 mistakes per game but it's okay because his delivery is smoove. He can write his own ticket, but Harry Neale, he's a douche and should be fired.
