Bottom line is it was his decision and there's nothing we can do about it now.  We can argue all night long but that's not gonna change the fact that he went and he got injured... let's hope not badly... but he did and well what can you do now.  Nothing anyone says is going to change that!  We all have our own opinions on the matter but I think it's clear that we all hope his injury isn't bad and we all hope he'll be better to play for the Sens.

Some Info regarding Hamstring injuries.

Diagnosis
The doctor will ask about your symptoms and medical history, your recent physical activity, and how the injury occurred. The doctor will also examine your thighs for:

Tenderness and/or bruising directly over the hamstrings
Pain when contracting the hamstrings, particularly against resistance
Muscle strains are graded according to their severity:
Grade1
Some stretching with microtearing of muscle fibers.
Recovery can be complete in 10-21 days.
Grade 2
Partial tearing of muscle fibers.
Recovery can take up to 1-2 months.
Grade 3
Complete tearing (rupture) of muscle fibers.
Recovery can take more than 3 months.
Surgery may be needed to repair the torn muscle fibers
. This is very rare.
For severe hamstrings strains, you may have an MRI scan to see if the tearing requires surgical repair. Professional athletes sometimes have MRI scans to help predict the length of their recovery period.

Sundin is probably one player who needs this Olympic tournament. He usually plays great on the international ice; should get him started again for the Leafs.

Not a fan of Dom myself, making it more difficult for me to back him, but you can't be down on someone for deciding to represent their own country.
He's a Czech way way before he is a Senator...and a big enough boy to decide to do what he wants to do.  It's not like him going to play for his country automatically meant he was "betraying" the sens...these breaks happen...that's all it is.  I admire him for going for it...and yes he does have an olympic gold already, and a stanley cup...but last i checked, hockey is a team sport.  He's not doing this for himself...

I don't think anyone is saying he's "betraying" the Sens, he simply make a poor decision IMHO.

I think a few million Czechs would have some what more of a draw than a few hundred thousand Senators fans...I don't think you could ever rightfully call some one selfish for wanting to represent their country in anything.  It's not like they're participating for personal glory.  They are playing for the people of their respective nations.  That's why they're competing.  Right?
Everybody say 'Oh Yea-yer'

wake me up when this nightmare is over.
we have to look beyond heinseit right now and start looking forward. he's injured. thats for sure. all we can hope is that it's not for an extended period of time. *crosses fingers* *finds religion and starts praying*

IMO, i think it was dangerous for hasek to go to the olympics in the first place. yes, he may be capable of making decisions for himself but this guy's a competitor. If it was up to him, he'd play all 82 games, play every game for the czechs and every game in the playoffs. ok, maybe thats a BIT overstated but still, this guy will play until he can't play anymore...lets just hope that this isn't that time.

I dont know if its the emotion talking, but I could really care less about the Olympics. I rather watch the x-games myself. The hockey is top notch, but thats about it.

Lets try to lighten the mood a bit in here.

A. Do you think that there will be NHLers in Vancouver 2010, if it was up to Gary Bettman I would think no?

B. What if all the Sens playing in the Olympics got injured, every one of them, what would happen?

A)  Apparently the NHL has already committed to the 2010 Olympics but not beyond.

B) I would jump off the nearest bridge.

**Have not pushed the panic button yet regarding Hasek.....I could simply be in denial...however, nearly choked on my breakfast when out-of-town and read he hurt his back before the Atlanta game on January 2nd and had to wait a full day before I could find out more information.  Therefore, I will wait until I hear more about the outcome of the injury report of today.   Will, however, go to my local LCBO tonight to purchase a Texax mickey of something in case the news is not good tomorrow!! ;) :laugh2:

Hasek injured in the Czechs' first game. %&/"!$??&() !!!  :icon_angry2: We're not lucky at all this year in the Olympics!

I'm not gonna get on Hasek's case, but given his age alone, whether he's in great shape or not, he is mathematically more injury-prone, which is why I think his decision to go the Olympics was plain stupid. It's a great honor representing your country, etc., but the Czechs already had a very capable goalie in Vokoun and there was absolutely no need for Hasek to go for the Czechs to have a good chance at a medal.

Anyway, I don't think his hamstring injury is that serious. I just hope tomorrow's MRI confirms my suspicions.
