i like hf, tho i stick to the sens section more. and i dont post much to begin with.

back to the topic at hand (speaking of topics going off track  :P), i think its fair talk. im more confident then ive ever been going into the playoffs, but you cant help but think just a little. what if? its nice to say this team is different and can get thru it this year, as many of us think, but you just never know in the playoffs. a little fear is a good thing, but to much of it is a problem.

You get three guesses. It shouldn't be hard to work out.

I don't think they will choke this year, and they didn't choke in 02-03. They did however choke in 03-04, though belfour was on some crazy amazingly stuff out there (i'm thinking jack daniels, gatorade and red bull with a splash of tabasco).

Some people are pessismistic but at the same time, I don't think there's anything wrong with supporting a team but saying "they need a better second scoring line" etc.
Go Canucks, Go Sens.

Hah, really? I love that avatar.

EDIT: It might have been because of the similarity in names. Andrew_Brunette and Peter_Schaefer. Also, your man-crush on Schaefer and his highlight-reel goals.

I don't post there, but I peruse HFBoards occasionally to see what is being said.  It's pretty obvious that Peter_Schaefer is you.

Fishnet tank-top.  Crotchless, tassled chaps.  Edible thong.  Knee-highs.

How could you know it was edible? Have you been tasting my underwear again?

I'm not worried about the Sens in the playoffs this year...I think they'll have a great run! Regardless of how well they do or don't do...I will still be a big Sens fan!

I think that part of the past failures in the playoffs involving the Senators have been mitigated by two main things:  1) many of the team have lived through those experiences and, as part of their maturity as professional hockey players, they will not want to repeat those failures.  Although we still have one of the youngest teams in the League, many - Redden, Phillips, Alfie, Fisher, Neil, Chara, Schaefer - have been through those previous playoff *wars* and that experience will help them this year, IMHO; and 2) hopefully, the reffing will continue on, at least for the most part, as it has this season.  In years gone by, it would appear, to me at least, that the rulebook was simply thrown out and it was a source of never-ending frustration for me as a fan to watch my speedy, skilled team obstructed, held, hooked, tripped, etc. throughout the playoffs.  And as a bonus, I strongly feel that we have a coach that is not afraid to stray from his *formula* and adjust as a game warrants it.  Not to mention the passion that he seems to bring to behind the bench which, for me, rubs off on his players.  The Senators no longer perform like robots.  There is a *jump* to their game that I have never seen before (or, at least, cannot remember seeing on a regular basis).  They always had a good work ethic.  Now they have a good work ethic along with creativity.

Of course....I am hopeful that the recently *hot* Florida Panthers do not somehow manage to sneak into the 8th playoff spot.....facing Robets, Nieuwendyk and Martin would kind of put me off (with Luongo *subbing* for Belfour!)!    :suspicious:

If the Sens are labelled as a 'choker' because they lost in the playoffs, and as a result, are destined to do so again and never win the cup, you can then claim every single team that has ever made the playoffs and not made teh finals should be labled a 'choker'.

How many teams does that leave to win the cup out of those teams making the playoffs this year? Ultimately it seems that no team is destined to win the cup, as they will all choke now doesnt it?

 :icon_agree:

i just hope this team can get one cup under its belt before this team is blown up (so to speak) and we have to go through some less successful and less promising years. I always feel this team will be competitive to some degree just because of the way it's managed (ie: drafting, trading, etc...) but i think it may be a while before we see another version of the 06 ottawa senators again...unless of course we can get all of our UFAs signed this off season or get good compensation for them. if that's the case, this post is a moot point.

My friends and coworkers are all saying that the Sens will choke in the playoffs this year, or they'll end up playing the Leafs.  I can't wait till summer when they win a cup and prove everyone wrong.  It would even be ok if they ended up playing the Leafs, I'd predict a sweep!  :GO_SENS_GO2:
