If you want sunshine and roses directed at your team and city, this board might not be the right place for you to visit this particular night, you should maybe understand how most of us are feeling and take things with a grain or 10 of salt.

yeah, i read it at first and was almost offended, but then i thought about how i would get and i was like, yeah, let it go.

coming in i really didnt think we had a chance with you guys. i figured anything after round one was gravy for more, if we could get a few wins, make it close, so much the better. i dont think anyone saw this coming. good luck to the sens tonight. dont lose all hope for this game, im going so i might jinx it enough to make the sabres lose.

I know what it is like to be a Leaf fan now, only at least their team gives some effort in the postseason...

GAOLTENDING, GOALTENDING, GOALTENDING. As it always has been with the Sens, it really comes down to goaltending. The only teams they've beaten in the playoffs over the years have had crappy goalies between the pipes. Anytime Ottawa plays against a team with a good goalie they lose, because their goalie steals at least one or two games a series, while we have NEVER had a goalie steal a single game (by "steal" I mean that the other team outplays us but we still win). Emery is another in our long line of mediocraties that should be turfed after this season. And in his place, we MUST go after Roberto Luongo. In order to do this we'll have to give up on one or more of our stars, and my candidate is...

Alfie: as much as I love this guy (and I don't really blame him; he's tentative for the same reason the rest of the team is - they're scared shitless that Emery will let one in if they give up an odd-man rush), he clearly is not the type of captain we need in the playoffs. We need a guy that can make you feel embarrassed for not giving everything you've got, and he, or someone else in the leadership structure, has to be able to get in an underperformer's face during the playoffs (a la Yzerman/Shanahan or Sakic/Blake). Redden and Fisher are the perfect duo for that job. So Alfie and Emery to Florida (Jacques loves those crappy goalies) for Roberto. Losing Big Z will hurt during the regular season, but he's blown too many tires during the playoffs to convince me that he can help us when it counts. Maybe we come in 4th or 5th next year without their production, but WHO CARES!!!!! Let's get a goalie who we know will give us a fighting chance. Hasek should have been that guy (and may still be, if the God of the Red Sox is hanging around this series for a little while), but it didn't work out. Luongo is that guy.

I would take that Luongo-Alfie trade, but I doubt that Keenan would.

And to a team from a garbage city who we owned most of the year
classy

You want to know why the senators are a let down? This pic:

Look at that face on Smolinski. That's the emotion after scoring what was the game winning goal in the second round of a playoff series? Smugness personified. Chalk it up to coaching, or just the character of the players, but that pic sums it up. "We're the Sens, we win."

If that's the worst you can pick on for comments in a board where the team went into an 0-3 board, better pack it up and go back under your bridge.   Anyway, the poster already dealt with this, or were you soooo anxious to be a troll you couldn't bother reading the whole thread.  Get over it.

What was he supposed to do? Ask the referee to take back the goal?

I don't get the whole smugness thing one bit.

Nobody cared when J.P Dumont started dancing like an idiot when he scored the OT winner. That was his way of showing his emotion. Smolinski didn't do the whole arm pump ride the stick thing because he knew the game wasn't over, he just bailed out his defenceman.

Two things: The point i made with that pic is valid. Flame me all you want, but look at that face. Says a lot to me.

second: Going after the city of a team is a direct insult to the fans. Insult the Sabres all you want, i won't take it personally. Insult the city where i was born and raised, **** you too.

I get it he got the go ahead goal which should have been the winner. Why not the smirk was he supposed to know the Sabres were gonan get ab=nother one. NO U DONT THINK OF THAT OUTCOME WHEN U SCORED THE GO AHEAD GOAL. relax people i still believe and this is not over yet. I seriously hope for the Sabres trollers who are very childish that we regroup and go 4 straight. See hwo thery liek us after they had a chance to finish us. Ands if we lose rod me all u want im a real fan and will ba back next year. Can't brign me down. I knwo we can't win them all but hey. Get er done.

That's exactly the point. JP freaked out, wouldn't you if you scored a playoff game winner? The Sens came into the series expecting to win, the Sabres came in fighting to win.

EDIT: I was gonna argue some more but decided against it. The Sabres are a good team.

No, that was the last Sens goal on Game 1 round 2 against Buffalo.  You can see Miller laying down on the floor.

I'm new to the board and I don't know if it was covered previously but I thought Smolinski looked pretty smug on that goal.  I only saw it live but I though he deserved a Cooper face wash right then and there.

As a Leaf fan believe me not many of us are taking any great satisfaction out of this.  The Sabres are about as popular as a piranha in a hottub in these parts.  Who are we to gloat?  It was the Sabres and Sens that basically eliminated the Leafs.

It isn't over but pretty close.  I'm sure you all must be very disappointed but no need to wipe the slate clean.  Not trying to start anything but the Sens could probably use a couple more character guys.  A Gary Roberts type running around couldn't hurt them right now.

No controversy with that comment.  There were a lot of calls to bring in a veteran with playoff savvy but it didn't
happen.

FrequesntVisitor i agree with your post however the smirk on Smolinskis face was one of oh my god as if i got the go ahead. Did he think it was game winner..obviously.After the game did it cross his mind that the smirk he made woudl come back to haunt him. I don't see it in Smolinski to have a smirk that read hahahahahaha. Deff not his intentions IMO.

So Roy celebrated his goals like an idiot.  Oh my gosh, I think I'm going to cry because of a facial expression Roy made to his teammates!  Woe is me!  Woe is me!

Loser.
