Ottawa Senators in 7 games
« on: May 11, 2006, 12:22:38 AM »
I know the odds of the Senators coming back are about a million to one.
I know the Sabres are a well-coached team.
I know the Sabres have the better goaltender.

I saw a few positives in game 3:

Alfredsson had 2 assists and hit 1 post, it ain't goals but it is contributing.
Emery played well and made some key stops on defensive breakdowns (way to many of them).
The power play looked good in the third period.
The Sens still outshot the Sabres.

We as smart hockey fans have to give Buffalo at least a little credit. After stealing game one and seeing the Senators potent offense at work, they made a few adjustments and it has paid off in spades. They collapse in the crease and hold Ottawa shooters to the perimeter. It is a fine piece of coaching and player commitment. You can tell Ruff has all those players buying in.

With all that said, I'll still be watching till the final buzzer, and I still have hope that the Sens can win four straight against this team. They just need to find a way to get shots on target through the traffic, and drive to the net.

Sens in 7.

wow, guess ESPN guy doesn't think much of Ottawa.  Alfie will only win the cup if he plays with another team?
Unless he's saying that Alfie is the problem in Ottawa.  Not sure what to make of his statement.

The fat lady is warming up, but it is not over yet.
Ottawa has the talent to come back from a 3-0 deficit, its a matter of finding that talent again.

Ottawa started the season great, and wend downhill as the months went by. Buffalo started like crap, but got better and better as the season went on. It shows. Ottawa thought they could just flick a switch and be back to early season form. Huge mistake.

To be honest, they haven't played well against Tampa, but got away with it because Tampa was playing even worse. They are getting exposed against the Sabres. The lack of determination to get the dirty goals is doing them in. So unless about 10 players grow a new set before tonight, the series won't even be close.

You have to admit the third period was better for that.  They started to actually stand infront of Miller...  Again, get Chara the heck up there.  Get Alfie to cover the point.

But to start in the 3rd period of game 3 in round 2 is simply too little too late.  :icon_thumbsdown:

Sometimes Burnside's writing seems to be no more than a justification for his job.
This series still goes on, but I still can't be sure when it will end.  I'm not sure if it's because of the early thrashings the Sens gave us, or if it is due to how the "hockey world" chose the Sens to win the series.  I believe this much:
-The Sabres have a killer instinct and will win the series.
( rarely teams will come back from this hole & Sabres haven't loss 4 in a row)
-They are onto the Sens style and rhythm.
-The Sens coach should be held accountable for losing this series.
-Dominic Hasek will play on Thursday.
-Sen's fans deserved better ( but one team has to lose).
-Connolly will not play unless the Sabres lose 2 games.

I might not be accurate, but thought the series would at least go to 6 games in the beginning and that isn't looking too accurate.

I am taking the rest of the series game by game. Down 0-3 hurts.I believe they can win tomorrow, and then build momentum. This is not a light switch here, they have been playing well, but so have the Sabres to shut us down.

The Sens need to take everything they learned the last 3 games, go into tomorrow and throw everythinbg they have, they have nothing to loose.

Put Hasek in net tomorrow, I don't give two shits if he says "I'm not ready to play". This man was brought into Ottawa to do one thing,  and one thing only, And he has been MIA because he isn't 'ready'. Sorry Dom, but you have Redden who missed one game in teh playoffs due to hismother passing, you have Fisher who took a puck in the face, and has not missed a game because heput on a cage. You have Kelly who suffered an upper body injury, to return, and suffer a lower body injury, and returned a game or two after. Eveyrbody is playing injured, it's time Hasek stepped up to the plate and do the same. He has to realize, if he looses the game, he is done in the NHL, no team, not even Ottawa will want him back; if he injures himself, he is done in the NHL, as no team woudl want him back with his injury history in the last 3 or 4 years.

The team, and Hasek has nothing to loose tomorrow. Giveit all they got, get the win, take some rest, come back home, get game 5. That puts the series back at 2-3. It's a new game at that point.

People are harping on Emery. What they have to realize is Emery was not here to win the cup. He was here to learn from Hasek and improve his game. He is a rookie, a kid that needs some adjustments and fine tuning in the off season, and all of next season in order to become a bonofide starter in the NHL.

Redden and Chara both have HUGE reasons to step it up in the playoffs. Redden is playing great, Chara is not.Chara needs to have an outstanding game if he wishes to have a chance to remain in Ottawa.

The Senators can take game 4 in Buffalo. After that point, its all about taking it one game at a time.

I still believe also.. I have daydreams off all the Sabres fans comign here and trolling us to death..Litlle do they know we got what it takes to win tonight go home pick up a win..make them feel nervous..steal the show in Sbaresland leaving them breathless knowing they had the series and we draw them back to Ottawa for game 7.. Now this is how i hope it all unfolds. Tonight will tell if we in this or not. I truly believe a win tonight were there gonan try shut it out tonight in there home town is what this team needs to turn it around... I am not blaming anyone at this point..its a team sport if anythign im praising that Miller dude right now.. He showed up last night and still keeps stopping the best of our team.. What will it take.. First goal possibly??? ANd for Alffy to almost get his second last second goal of the year.. WOW would that place ever went silent. Could he almost be there with grabbing the mesh with the puck.. Lets find out tonight when we start the best Sens 4 game winnign streak known to man. It cant end like this it all seems to surreal that i was just there to see them finish off the defending champs and to be down by 3 right now...UH UH not the Sens we know can't end like this this year or we pick up a million more trollers. I BELIEVE tonight is the TSN turning point of the series.Rip my thread apart all u want for not blaming anyone. We know what needs to be doen and havent done it yet..however have fought close to not come out on top. The next 4 are ourzzzzz.

There is not one player you can blame for this. Sure, Emery has let in a couple of softies, but he was not in our linup to win the cup. he was here to learn from Hasek, the goalie of all goalies. Since Feb. he was thrown in as the starter. Sure he needs to raise his game, but at the same time, you have to realize this is a kid, a rookie, playing a bigger role than what was intended.

Well, I jumped off the bandwagon officially last night--I actually posted that!  I need to say that I tied a rope to my waist before I jumped off and will let myself be dragged in the dirt until the wagon comes to a stop.  I am a sucker for punishment.

To me , giving this team my heart tonight is like an abused person saying to themselves "you know, maybe he/she will change, they've been pretty nice at times this year" and stepping right back into the abuse.  I do NOT mean to minimize abuse by using this analogy so please, please --no flames for this.  Okay?

Reality is tough:  Buffalo is simply a better team and has a response for all of Ottawas weapons.  They are in the heads of every guy on the ice and I do not think Ottawa has anything else to offer.

BUT-----who knows, it has been done and if they get some luck a miracle could happen.
The truth of sport plays rings around you

The saddest part is there are alot of peopel who have lost faith or not fully but to post they lost faith shows were they stand as a real fan. Im not dogging anyone i just find it funny how we can give up before its actually over. NAd if in fact it is over. we rebound next year and hopefully the front office can overlook the the latter half of the seasonand see what they missed on trade day or what they can bring or add to the team.. hell of a year if u ask me.
