I'd be fine if they took away Jim Rome and filled it in with something from another Canadian (aka Toronto) market.  But, otherwise, tinker with their current basic format which is local and it should be fine.  On the nights that they are not broadcasting local games (mainly hockey) they could also get rid of the Fox Sports and/or ESPN shows and put in Canadian content (again, aka Toronto).

As long as we don't get Mike Richards in the morning. I saw him on OTR last week, and he seems even more annoying that "Jungle" Jim Jerome. At least Jerome doesn't show up half the time and we get to listen to the other guys...

Please please please can we turf Jungle from the morning show!? He is brutal, and since he came back he seem to take up about 75% of the airtime (when he's there). He has these stupid moronic takes and the other two spend most of their time correcting him. The show is 20x better without him.

My favorite three words on TGOR are: Jim is away.

If they want him to keep lining up interviews using his Gretzky connections, give him some title like talent producer and get him the hell off the air.

TSN radio has been on the air here in Toronto since mid-April on what used to be CHUM-AM (1050).

http://www.tsn.ca/radio/

I wonder how much local content you will get on 1200 after this change, and how much will just be whatever they are broadcasting on 1050 being served to Ottawa listeners on 1200.

With Labour Day approaching, this thread came to mind. I wonder if we could see the format change in a couple of weeks.
I would definitely say that local content would remain in the two drive times and likely the late morning show. Jim Rome would likely stay as it costs them almost nothing to broadcast.
Whatever the case, I hope we see the departure of Jungle. I would actually like to see JR, Steve and Angry Al every morning. It would be a good mix of intelligent sports commentary and discussion, humour and benign chit chat. Jungle just has absolutely zero to offer and takes up most of the airtime every morning.
Haven't heard any buzz though, so it's likely not happening unless they've been able to keep a very tight lid on things.

I actually dind't mind Jungle the first time round, but since he has come back and is sitting in Edmonton, he is so out of synch with the show and falling back on T&A more than ever.  Time to put that one to bed and move someone else in that spot.

Please get the summer scratches guys, former Sportscall guys, Lee Versage and Phil Melanson off the air.  Brutal, brutal amateur hour stuff.  I prever Jimmy over them.  Pregnant pauses between cliche laden drivel, pronouced in a pseudo-profound voice equals instant channel change.   It's just bad radio.l

Versage and Melanson (who is also producer of the Healthy Scratches) are just there for the summer as far as I remember hearing.  Jason York is scheduled to return in the fall with Steve Lloyd (?) for the afternoon drive-home show (unless things have changed dramatically since York went off on holidays).

They did Sportscall earlier in the day before the summer, I think..., but it would be good for them to go back to spot duty.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Versage at all - like you said, very amatuer sounding. Don't mind Phil Melanson though.
Love the regular scratches with Jason York and Steve Lloyd and as far as I've heard they are supposed to be returning.
In related or maybe unrelated news, this morning when I walked by there was an apple picker from a sign company changing the signs behind their building on George. Probably just switching out the /A\ Channel for CTV2, but we can hope. ;)

Must be Versage that is so bad.  I can't stand listening that long to sort it out.  He must work very cheap to still be on the air.

Melanson, Jungle and I think Sutherland are gone ...
Too bad about Melanson, I liked his style and he was very knowledgable. Wonder if Sutherland is still doing RDS?

Wow, big layoffs.
Sports radio personality Jungle Jim Jerome of Team 1200 is one of 16 Bell Media employees locally who were given pink-slips on Thursday.
CTV Ottawa promotion manager Brent Corbeil and four other management and support staff were laid off.
Seven out of 11 radio cuts were on-air talent, including Gord McDougall and Michael Harris at CFRA; Phil Melanson and Mike Sutherland at Team 1200; Steve Boyton at Majic 100; and Tina Sapp at BOB-FM.

I believe Mike Sutherland was doing stuff like 20/20 updates between segments, not an actual show.

Glad to hear Jerome is finally gone. Shame about the rest. I know Brent Corbeil fairly well, and he is a great guy. I don't know why he was part of hte layoffs, he works so hard it's going to take 5 people to replace him...

Not surprised in the least about Jerome.  Was frankly very surprised when they brought him back!  Don't know Corbeil but will take your word on it (since you are also spot-on about Chris Phillips!).  With Michael Harris gone from CFRA, I will have no reason to ever listen to them again.  He seemed to be the only person who actually researched his topics during his time slot.  Did not always agree with him but at least he sounded educated enough to have a solid opinion.

I didn't realize they had let Michael Harris go. I've always liked his show. Although he's a little left leaning in his overall views, he usually tries to stay impartial and informed on most issues, and will call out someone from any political stripe when they step out of bounds. Too bad, I think he was that station's best asset. Couldn't they have retired Lowell Green and moved Harris?

I can only imagine now how bad Sportscall on 1200 is going to be with Phil Melanson gone. They should have dropped his annoying Jim Rome wannabe co- host Lee Versage instead.
