Bob McKenzie: Muckler's Phone Hot with Redden Trade Talk
« on: November 09, 2006, 08:50:48 PM »
Tonight on TSN Bob McKenzie mentioned that Muck's phone had been ringing off the hook with GMs inquiring about Redden.

This would be huge ... BUT ... can't see this happening. Redden just signed here as a UFA and there is a noticable difference when he isn't playing. The team really seems to miss his ability to make the preverbial outlet pass and defence really hasn't been our problem most games.

So personally, I would brush this one off, but thought it might interest a few here.

I'd be pretty pissed off if he traded Reds, he's an alternate captain, he's coming off an injury and you just signed him for 6.5m for two years instead of Chara. If Mucks trades him he his basically saying I really ****ed up, I should of signed Z. IMO

I have never like Redden's play. I won't miss him - I would love a Neidermayer or Pronger though.

This is a good story on TSN, it's almost as if they read this place to get the pulse...

I love Reds but if we got Pronger/niedermayer obviously I wouldn't complain

I wouldn't trust Muckler to trade anyone right about now..sad to say.  I'm sure the final word would rest with Melnyk and given past trades of Mucks it likely would be nixed.

I can't imagine Muckler trading Redden after losing Chara. What would that do to the defense?
Then again,what do I know?

I'd actually be kind of interested to see what we could get for Redden.

Couldn't really do that one.  Under salary cap trades pretty much have to be dollar for dollar.  Don't have it front of me but I'm certain Nieds salary is near the max and Pronger aint' far behind.  Redden is a bargain in comparison.

Really, it's just a stupid rumour and we shouldn't pay much attention to it.  If Mucks every pulled this he'd be lynched on bank street and I'd be the one holding the rope.,

Pronger makes 6.25 million and Niedermayer 6.75. I guess if we really got their GM we could get him to trade them, but if he's that drunk we could probably get the whole team for half a case of kokanee, possibly molson, we'd have to throw in a draft pick though,

Redden has been a pretty solid D man over the years for the sens.

He does have a problem however in that at times he has brain farts where he seems totally lost on ice.
This is typically during a defensive stance where I find him to be totally out of position.

Offensively leaving the zone he is one of the best at getting that first pass out of the zone.
If is however the brain farts that make me uneasy, I can almost feal them coming on watching him as
he positions himself on the ice.

However, haveing watched many Dmen devlop over the years, many who had a problem with brain farts in their earlier years
(Larry Robinson) who went on to become superior Dmen, i'm willing to give Redden leaway as he still is not
near the peak years for a defenceman.

I was just referring to an earlier poster who basically said they'd love a Niedermayer or Pronger. Well....everyone would. I never said it would happen. BTW
Redden - 6.5
Pronger - 6.25
Niedermayer - 6.75
I don't think Reds is really a bargain

Bob McKenzie, to me, is like Don Cherry.  Half of what he says is worth listening to and the other half wouldn't even warrant wiping my own butt with.

All I can say is that Phil obviously didn't punch him hard enough because he's still coming out with crap.
There are good coaches and there are bad coaches, the real question is "Do you want this person to be a role model to your kids for the next 6 months".  That's the question you have to ask yourself.

not to mention, what reason in the world does Anaheim have for making ANY moves, they've gotten at least a point in every game they've played this year, why on earth would you mess with that?

Yeah it would be especially cool when Pronger's wifey made him peace out the city again.
Doesn't Redden's loyalty mean anything to anyone?  It does to me.
