An option we've foolishly overlooked

Our problems are but a phonecall from being over.
Just look at that poise. You could chisel that stance in ivory.

Prusek was a decent backup. Never got a real chance to shine...

Where is he at now? Where is he playing, if he still is playing?

WOW! wonder why he wasn't offered an NHL job this year, I always thought he was a decent goalie, at least he would probably be better than Gerber right now...

I'm guessing he was at least offered something in the AHL, but prefered to make more money elsewhere...

Let's just say he makes Dominik Hasek look like Cal Ripken Jr.

I really hope this guy can turn his game around soon. It's not that he can't do it, it's the fact he's struggling bad. He looks like Lalime. He made some great saves against the Bruins, but the soft goals simply overshadowed and made those saves a mute point. Goalies are a strange breed and this guy certainly has the potential, but hasn't shown us any of that yet...let's hope we're screaming his prase after this TOUGH week ahead.

If this turns into a Gerber thread, it will be merged with the official Gerber thread. No issues about you gusy regarding other options you find interesting, lets just not have multiple threads discussing the same thing.

I thought Hurme and Prusek were both very good goalies. We traded them away for no reason. I understand we had to bring in emery who was supposed to be "our future" but look at these numbers in their last year with the sens:

Prusek:  GP 29 W 16  L 6 T 3 GAA 2.12 SV% 917 SO 3 To me,thats top 20 goalie caliber numbers.

Hurme:  GP 25 W 12 L 9 T 1 GAA 2.48 SV% 907 SO 3 Not as good as prusek but still good considering the sens had a bad year.

Now throw in Emery's numbers last year, and tell me why we got rid of the previous 2, but kept emery when emery's numbers weren't as good.(Not a knock against emery because i think he should be our number 1, more a knock against getting rid of prusek.

Emery:  GP 39 W 23 L 11 GAA 2.82 SV% 902 SO 3

Can someone please explain this to me. We got rid of good goalies for nothing.

Prusek stunk whenever he had to start consecutive games.  He just wasn't that great to begin with.

To have as good numbers as he did its hard to believe you when you say that. If he played so bad in consecutive games then he must have only let in 1 goal in almost every other game. I don't know about you,but I would love having a goalie letting in 1 or 2 goals a game right now. Back up your argument with stats on consecutive games. I can't see it being worse then gerber's stats.

He'd always bomb the second night.  The first game, he'd be great, the nothing on night two.  And since he was a backup goalie, he didn't get a ton of chances two games in a row, so there isn't a whole lot to go off, but his second start was always much worse than the first.

Example.  April 2, 2004, stops 39 of 40 shots and wins 3-1.  April 3, 2004.  Stops 6 of 9 shots and is pulled in the 2nd period.

March 13, 2004, stops 19 of 20 shots and wins 2-1.  March 14, 2004.  Stops 13 of 16 shots and is pulled after the 2nd period.

I don't think he ever had it in him to be a starter.  Hell, he couldn't even make the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Prusek could never hold his own in consecutive starts and had durability issues. I don't think having him back would be any better than throwing in the 67s best option.

Well...during Emery's absense we COULD put him in net every second game meaning we would be .500 by now. :icon_stirthepot:
