2 Players you would like to see at the Deadline
« on: February 19, 2007, 09:33:40 AM »
If you could pick two available players at the deadline who would they be. The key is you have to release one of ours.

My picks

Sheldon Souray - I love his style of play. Gritty Scoring defencemen - give them McGrattan :(

Gary Roberts - We better damn well get this guy. He is huge.

I would like to see Roberts and Guerin/Smyth (Smyth might be available) added to our roster and trade Eaves

A few options here, but I'd like to see a Roberts/Guerin/Smyth-type up front and a solid Dman who will block shots like Volchenkov and move the puck like Redden - I know, I don't ask for much! ;)

honestly, I would trade any ONE player from our roster for Smyth (except Heatley, Spezza, Volchenkov, and Emery) he would add so much to any team (I have no idea whiy Edmonton is even considering not signing him)

the rest of the  available list I think are great, not sure who I would give for any other player?

Roberts and Sopel.

We'd have to trade someone off the roster for this to happen, obviously.

Fills both needs as listed by Mucks.

Brodeur and Pronger

I'd be extatic with just Smyth...Roberts to a lesser extent...

If the price is too high for Roberts (or he chooses to go elsewhere) and we can't get Smyth... then is there anyone who would be willing to take Roenick? He has said that he wants a trade to a contender and he sure as hell wouldn't cost too much (maybe a 3rd or 4th round pick). His salary would fit, it's 1.2 million.

I just think he's a guy who seems to step it up in the playoffs, he's a fierce competitor and probably a good leader.

I still want Roberts first, but if that doesn't happen, I would be OK with Roenick... and a depth d-man.

i know the asking price for Roberts is high, but who's in the drivers seat? Roberts has already said he only wants to go to the playoffs, and play for the leafs, or senators. so we all know toronto isn't making the playoffs, so Ottawa is holding all the cards, give up 2 first rounders, Ottawa is so good, it makes their 1st round picks, so late that their really early second rounders, or even patty eaves, but don't give up on verment, this guy can play, score, kill penalties

*poke...poke* Have you gone braindead!? No way in hell are we giving up two 1st round draft picks for him! no way to eaves also! The most i am willing to give for roberts is a 2nd, but a 3rd would seem more fair.

Smyth for Emery!!!!  In a nano second.

As usual goaltending is the Sens biggest concern going into the playoffs but I'm not sure who's available in net.

Roberts would be great but not if they have to give up too much.  As Sens first rounder wouldn't be that bad.  It's not going to be a real high pick.  I wouldn't count the Leafs out just yet.  They are playing well and not that far out.  Roberts is a Whitby boy so would like Leafs or Sens to be close to his family.  Who would help either team.
