AApparently Florida wanted a first rounder for Roberts. Here's my question. Since Ottawa will be drafting around 20th and this years draft not being deep, why wouldn't Muckler give up a first rounder?

Whoa whoa whoa, you are making wayyy to much sense there. Muckler won't have any of that!

They wanted a 1st rounder and Vermette.
There are good coaches and there are bad coaches, the real question is "Do you want this person to be a role model to your kids for the next 6 months".  That's the question you have to ask yourself.

Muckler doesn't want to trade anyone of his roster, but thats what you have to do to win a cup. You have to gamble to win John, he have played it safe deadline day as far as I can remember, Now the Penguins have Roberts. I don't think there is much hope for us after Pittsburgh picks up a guy like him. San Jose has Guerin and the guy that we picked up we don't need! Mucks does it every single year, open your eyes and make a deal that will IMPROVE this team, thank you.

Yeah I don't see the point of this. He went to the finals, I guess that's something. Pierre Maguire isn't enthused.
Maybe the idea is that this allows Schubert to go back to the blueline? I honestly don't know.

Tyler Arnason part 2.  Who in hell is he going to replace?  Muckler is finished after this years playoffs.  He is too old, too many enemies in the league who will not deal with him fairly (hello Jacques Martin) and is risk averse.

Our window to wheel and deal for the Cup are over, Muckler is NOT saying he is confident in this lineup, he is saying he knows we stand a snowballs chance in hell of getting to the Cup and he would not or could not improve it enough with a trade to get there.

I have to give you the Grumpy Award for the most negative poster on this board. LOL

I think Mucks is just not that good at what he does. He honestly doesn't seem to think we need a veteran D or any sort of a leader with cup experience.

What I would do is likely move Shubert back to D and bench Corvo,  Corvo becomes a nice Depth D in case of injury.  I would not bench any forwards for this guy though.
its about skill, grit, determination and goaltending but most of all its about heart.

This deal will only make sense if within the next ten minutes Muckler trades another forward. Schaeffer, Eaves maybe even Vermette, for a quality defenseman.

But don't count on it.

Yes he is and despite some people not knowing who he is this could be a very decent pickup. Oleg has had some real flashes of brilliance but I'm not so sure why he has not stayed up there.

I was hoping for more but at least it's something

He was pretty good for the Flames in their Cup run and he's got great speed.

Not mind blowing by any stretch but not bad either.

Sorry everyone, just venting again.  Cmon though, most of us agree that Muckler is ready for that next big step:

GM of the next Ottawa CFL club!
