Ah yes, the luxury of having to fret ourselves over how a star player is going to come back into the lineup.  In many other markets, this would be a no-brainer.  I can't believe our local media are running with this dreck.  Sheesh.

Our local media tends to find the negative in all situations.
Maybe they believe fans want to hear that.

I see this situation as very positive.

Unreal. The sorry excuse for fans continue to moan and groan and complain about Jason Spezza.

You who do that are dumber than dumb and probablly are Laffs fans.

Jason is a big asset to this team. How many players on ANY team score 100 or more points a season? How many??

We need Jason to remain on this team and he will help us go to the Cup final.

Anyone on here who thinks otherwise is a Laff Fan which is the worst NHL franchise in the league.

I eagerly await Spezza's return and though the team is no doubt playing better without him I don't think anyone is suggesting he was detrimental to the team.

That being said Spezza must find a new linemate as we cannot possibly seperate the HAK line.

Yes, it certainly will suck to get back the guy who carried our offense for 2 months.

Don't get me wrong...I like Heatley....and I love what he has been doing since Spezza has been injured...but did you ever consider that the "crazy passes" of Spezza's were "crazy" to Heatley because Heatley was the "problem" on that line?

I guess I ask simply because while I know that Jason has knocks against his game and there is room for improvement (as there is for every player), Heatley was not lighting up much and the way I see it, he is the one who has knuckled down and improved his game because, frankly, I thought he was pretty much a "floater" out there until Spezza got injured.

I don't personally think that Spezza coming back should be seen as a "negative" by anyone. He will undoubtedly have to keep up the pace and minimize his risks/mistakes. But I like this team WITH Jason Spezza much more than without him.

Maybe you are right about Heater, God knows I have been one of the loudest voices here that felt Heater was a floater and one dimensional.  But he LOOKS like he has much more to offer and my concern is the habits that lead to his floating will reaappear when Spezz returns (if they play togethter that is)

I for one am officially pumped to see what this team can do when Spezza returns.  I can only think the Sens will be talked about as an elite team again and prove some of us (me included) wrong in their predictions earlier in the season.

Turns out the Flames are 8-1 without Iginla, heading into last night's action. A counterintuitive pattern emerges.

Ian Mendes suggests Vermette and Eaves play with Spezza when he gets back. Pretty good, I can see it. I really like the idea of Vermette on Spezza's left. Part of me is stuck on the idea of Schubert on the right, but I suppose he doesn't really have the wheels for that kind of assignment.

That sounds like a great line...

I was sad seeing Vermette on a line with Hamel and Gratts last night.

As per Sportsnet. looks lie it may be Fisher on Spezza's left when they both return.

Me too.....although being recently back from an injury, not having tons of ice time could be a good thing for him, in a way.

It will be very interesting indeed to see what the lines are when Spezza comes back and, possibly a week later, Fisher.

Ahhhhh...the possibilities!

My $.02 is that Spezza is going to be dominant when he gets back.  Get him in your 2nd half pools.

2 big reasons:

- Stoked and motivated from being on the sidelines while the team and his buddy Heater rip it up.
-The long layoff will do his back a world of good.  It may be the key to him staying healthy through a good playoff run.

He doesn't need to go back with Heater to do it either.  There was some suggestion that it would be insulting, or making him "earn" his minutes, if he isn't put with Heater right away.  Hogwash.  Alfie has been get hooked up with a never ending cast of lesser lights for most of his career, and hs been totally classy about it.   I don't think Spezza will say boo.    Outside of Alfie and Heater there is solid talent to let Spezza produce well.  He may shoot more, which would be great because he has a great eye.

What I like about how well they are playing without Spezza is, when he comes back, if he doesn't play the system Murray has them playing right now, Murray can sit him down in the press box until he jumps on board.

Something Murray might have been reluctant to do before the injury.
