Who will step up in playoffs?
« on: April 03, 2007, 09:20:36 PM »
Just curious to see who you think could step up in the playoffs this year? Could it be a suprise like Kelly or Vermette or could it be Spezza or Heatley? Just Curious.

I have a strange feeling that Comrie could step up. I also think that Heatley could catch fire in the playoffs.

The boys will credit Wade Redden in interviews after the fact, with being the voice in the dressing room and being a leader on and off the ice.

Don't know why I think this and I certainly could be wrong ... but my gut keeps telling me that this guy really wants this.

Havlat and Smoke...... aaaa never mind :2-oops:

actually I think The person who will lead this team this year is Phillips ( I know I have never been his biggest supporter, but this year he has totally turned me around!)

as far as stepping it up.... the guys I think that have been kind of coasting lately are Neil, Vermette, and  Schaefer, and I think its these guys that really need to step up or the opposing team is going to shut us down..
Wine is Life......the rest is just details

Ya, I'm totally going with Chris Neil, Mike Comrie, and Anton Volchenkov :)  Maybe toss Heatley and Fisher in there too.

It's LONG past the time that most of these
Olympians and National Teram players had a
career playoff run.

Final Four this year or it's time to fire Muckler and rebuild the team.

It is overdue.  Very few teams have the extended regular season success that the Sens have had without breaking through to a final at least one year.  The Sens came 1 goal away, but...

I'm putting faith in the depth and guys like Kelly, Schubert and McAmmond giving the team an edge  The rest have to do their part but there is more strength through the lineup to turn things around than last year.   And of course, Rayzor is the key to it all.  Teams need the confidence that having faith in their goaltender gives them. He will come up very big.

Phillips as usual.
The line of Comrie-Fisher-Schaefer.
A-train
Emery.

Hopefully Heatley as well . . .he was near invisible last year.

Hopefully Heatley as well . . .he was near invisible last year.

And he knows it.  You keep hearing about how he worked with the conditioning staff to make himself stronger and better because he wasn't happy with his playoff effort.

Everybody has to step up and perform this year. The only way any team in this league can go through four rounds and win it all is through collective effort. But Alfie IS the captain and he needs to inspire his teammates. He's had his problems with pressure in the past so let's hope he's exorcised past playoff demons.

As for Emery, he can stand on his head and make every single stop imaginable but if the Sens don't start scoring regularly like they do throughout the regular season it's over in the 1st round.

The whole team...... I hope.

Especially, Emery, Neil, Alfie, Phillips and Fisher.

I really believe we have a team that can go all the way IF everyone works their butts off.  They have shown already, IMO, this past season, what hard work can do.

I agree with puckfancy...Everyone needs to step-up!!!

But, if were to look back at last year's playoffs, those that absolutely must step-up are Alfie, Spezza, Heatley. None of them turned the intensity level up last year, none of them drove to the net, none of them were crashing and banging in the corners!

Granted, the crash and bang style of game is not what they play (at least Spezza anyways), they need to be at least a little bit physical. The game tightens up in playoffs and if you aren't going to stand your ground, fight position, or be the first to the puck your going to be useless in the playoffs - no matter how much skill you have, or how many goals/points you got in the regular season!
This is the Shack.
