They traded Rask because Pogge was the fad last season. He was the young Canadian guy that everyone one loved (and was at the top of his game). Several Marlies and Leaf fans thought he would step into the AHL and just dominate, some even thought he'd go straight to the NHL. Pogge is a good goalie, but Rask is the better of the two. Pogge still has a few more years to develop in the AHL. My predicition is that he'll have another tough year this season coming up -- not only him, but the lack of defense.
Leafs obviously didn't have confidence in Raycroft -- not great for the ego, could go either of the two ways... Raycroft will not want to be a backup...
