The real scary thing...
« on: February 28, 2008, 11:15:38 AM »
Is that we are only 7 points out of 8th place in the east....

Its actually a reality that a terrible last 18 games could land us out of a playoff spot. Now that would have to go down as the worst regular season collapse ever after starting 15-2.

True enough.  But I am going to take the next 18 games one game at a time and I think the team should too.

I'm not saying it will happen, just the fact that it has gotten to this point is reason enough to believe anything can happen.

There is no way we will miss the playoffs.

Warning - I believe I said there was no way Paddock would be fired this season.

I'm confident the Sens will be able to turn things around...I think Paddock and Emery are 2 big reasons for the Sens struggles lately...having Murray behind the bench will certainly help us.

As negative as I feel right now,  I cannot imagine dropping out of the playoffs.

Mind you, we may be out in the first round in quick fashion so it will seem like we missed them!

I prefer to think we are 1 point out of 1st overall  ;)

I'll take them one at a time too.  But they blew a chance last night to really put the Flyers far enough behind that it would have been very unlikely that they could catch Ottawa.  Now Philly is right back in the thick of things.  Here's a sobering thought; the TML are 7-3 in their last ten games and Ottawa is 3-5-2, at this rate with seven games left to go in the season the Senators will be one point ahead of Toronto in the standings.
If they do not turn this thing around missing the playoffs is not out of the question   :GO:

You guys are hilarious.. :laugh2:

OKay, look @ it this way..  Ottawa has 78 points.. You need at least about 95-96 points to guarantee @ least a playoff spot.. The Sens are less than 10 wins away from securing @ LEAST a playoff spot and that doesn't include points for overtime appearances. I would be more worried about our seeding in the playoffs, rather than if we make it guys.. Calm Down!

And here I thought the whole team struggling to put together a full game's worth of decent play and effort was the biggest reason for our recent woes.....

Silly me!

Can you say 2008 New York Mets, I believe they blew a 17 game lead or something ridiculous like that in the last month. A total collapse!!!

Are you talking nhl or all sports. If there talking nhl no there have they been a hand full of collapse's worse. The rangers come to mind 10 years ago they started at 30-10 lost 28 out of 30 and did not make the play offs.THey did not have any injurys like ottawa or any of the drama. If your talking all sports no there has been a ton of worse collapse;s/
