With all the negative talk surrounding Ottawa, it will be interesting to see if people start talking the same about Anaheim who are in the exact same position as Ottawa, actually its worst because they have no key injuries like the Sens have and they lost both games to Dallas on home ice, this is just something I thought about watching the Ducks and Stars game last night

First of all, it warms my heart to see them down 2-0 and headed to Dallas.

But they are the champs, that does take a bit of edge off doing poorly the next year.   What surprises me is did they not go in on a pretty decent roll?

YEah, they did it already and have a Cup.  :icon_hissyfit2:  That will take the sting away from all the talk, unlike for us, unless they go down 4-0.   But you can't count them down and out just yet... sleeping giant and all dat.  Also, if they get embarrassed and do bow out quickly, it may make Burke stay in Anaheim and forgo TO.  :laugh2:  Or maybe not but here's to hoping!

Were there not stats thrown at us last year stating quite clearly that a team that make it to the Stanley Cup Finals and lose, win it 2 years later?  :laugh2:

As for the Ducks... Tough.   Dallas took 2 wins at the Pond and are bringing it home for 2 more.

Take a look:

1998-99: Dallas wins
1999-00: Dallas loses/New Jersey wins
2000-01: New Jersey loses

then

2001-02: Carolina loses
2002-03: Anaheim loses
2003-04: Calgary loses
2004-05: Lockout
2005-06: Carolina wins
2006-07: Anaheim wins
2007-08: ...

2003-04: Calgary loses
2004-05: Lockout
2005-06: Carolina wins
2006-07: Anaheim wins

Looks good on them!!  And Ottawa fans are not the only ones who can come under scrutiny.....with half a period to go last night, I noticed that the fans were abandoning the Honda Centre in droves and when the final buzzer went, the remainder booed the Ducks.

For me, I like Turco and would love to see the Stars whip the Ducks' butts and advance!!  I only watched the third period of the game last night, but the best line I heard was "Dallas is outscoring, outchancing and outskating the Ducks and it shows, especially on the scoreboard.  The only thing Anaheim is doing is outhitting the Stars and that is getting them nowhere!"

Ducks fans are 'tards anyhow.  What kind of fans are they when the Ducks are still on the ice celebrating the cup skating it around the rink and the stands are 95% empty.  What kind of fans they when only 15,000 show up for a cup celebration put on BY the Ducks.  Cities like that don't deserve to have a Cup at all.  Ask most of the people in that city and they probably wouldn't even know that the Ducks even won one or what Cup you were talking about.

I never boo my team no matter how crappy they are playing.  Does it make them feel any better?  Newp

And the Duckies are out!  :boogie:

The only thing sweeter than to see Anaheim get eliminated would be to see Montreal get the boot tomorrow as well.

For me its Pittsburgh I want to see out.

But my playoffs are half complete with Anaheim out

On another note, I was watching the Calgary game and missed all the goals (minus the open net) ... did Dallas have confetti/streamers after every goal?

So the 'semi-retirement plan' didn't work out all that well after all, eh?  Can't say I'm sorry to see the Duckies out!
