Did anyone else catch a quick comment on a Team1200 Sports Update this morning (after 6:00) that it was "official" that Emery is gone as of today?  Didn't hear it again and nothing is posted anywhere.

According to the paper the team will serve notice Emery that the team is not interested in his services anymore.  This is required according to the CBA.  After that time they are free to explore their options (buy-out, trade, etc..).  I believe Murray will be contacting GMs once they start arriving on Wednesday as to the possibility and requirments (picks, roster players) for them to take on Emery.

But for all intents and purposes ya, Emery is gone as of today.

Hopefully we can at least get a late round pick for him. I think he will prob be good wherever else he ends up.

I have a feeling we will be regretting getting rid of him in the future

Emery has the potential to be a great goalie...but I won't be sorry to see him go.

The Sens are doing him and their team a huge favour by cutting him loose.

For him, it is the ulitimate wake-up call in his young career.  We all will see what he is really made of.  Yes, he may come back to haunt us but it will be because he was punted out of the organization.  He cannot become the goalie he believes he is by staying here.

As for the team, the best thing for them is to be rid of him.  If they were to keep him, he would be under a constant microscope which would put the team under the constant scrutiny.  Every tiny percieved slip-up would be blown out of proportion.  The circus would never end; he would have to be beyond the normal human expectations for perfection.  The team needs to quietly regroup and recover from last year's disaster.

Bye Ray - all the best.

Exactly.  He will be a great goalie, but not here.  He's already burnt this bridge about as charred as it's going to get.  Wherever he goes he will do fine as long as he drops his bad habits  :suspicious and pulls his head out of his ass.  I don't care if he has to buy 15 alarms and set them 1min apart and tie himself to some winch system hooked to the rink, he should NEVER be late again.  Pay me $2 million a year (not even that) and I'd never be late in my life (unless they were exceptional circumstances beyond my control kind of thing).

Punctuation is so underrated!

Anyway, I agree with Small Town's thoughts on this topic. Wether Emery gets back to top form or not, it can't happen in Ottawa where he would roast daily in the Ottawa pressure cooker. He needs to get his butt out of here and start fresh before his career dies completely. He's already known as a locker room cancer, a few more mishaps and he's basically an NHL reject.

But I have a feeling he won't be as good as some people seem to believe he will be once he moves to another team.

I don't think I will ever be sorry Emery is gone.  But, that might just be me.

I can apreciate what you are saying, but you've never been part of a team, have you?

Emery could be the second coming of Martin Brodeur.  It wouldn't matter.  He still can't be a part of this team.
There are good coaches and there are bad coaches, the real question is "Do you want this person to be a role model to your kids for the next 6 months".  That's the question you have to ask yourself.

Ya he is friends with some of my friends, we've got out with him a bunch of times. Super nice, funny, generous guy. I think he gets a raw deal in the media personally.

Was he late a few times, sure of course he was but doesnt make him the awful person they act like he is.

I hope he becomes an all star wherever he goes. Im a fan too still.

I hope he goes to a good situation and turns it around and makes everyone in Ottawa regret getting rid of him
