one thing in Ottawa the coach never has the guts to says who's his main guy and I think in somepoints that affect the team. The Emery Gerber circus was a joke.

Counter point, only Gerber needs to be told he is the No. 1, any other goalie is able to assume the role and rock between the pipes without getting the "verbal recognition".

Auld has been great this year, he should already have at least 2 shut outs maybe more.

If the playoffs started tomorrow then he would be the man, then again we wouldn't be in the playoffs.  There is still lots of time until April.

I support Hartsburg in not getting caught up in anointing a #1, then another, then another, as playing time switches back and forth.  Auld has a history of great stretches then the wheels fall off.  I'm hoping it doesn't happen, but it could and Gerber gets hot and is effectively the #1.  All Hartsburg says is that he needs them both to play at the top of their game, and the media has stopped banging that gong.  IMHO last year by naming who the #1 was, the Sens fed the media who are always trying to find a controversy to stir things up.

And you could see the media trying to stir things up when the Sun published an articles regarding Gerber and how he isn't happy sitting on the bench, etc, and that he is a "good team player, etc"...

I see no reason NOT to go with Auld all the way. He's been fantastic. Calm and cool - "Auld Faithful", if you will
Seriously, he makes some big saves but more importantly doesn't seem to give up the bad ones and he doesn't get rattled. There's really not too much more you can ask for.

We should trade for Huet now.

If there's a guy to go after right now, it's Marty Turco. Dallas is a mess, he is only signed through 09-10. I think he has a no-trade, but might be wililng to waive it in order to play close to home.

I'm not real interested in Huet. Not with that brutal contract, anyway.

Why is this still a question after three years of Gerber?

Yeah, definitely. And it's worth pointing out... the last 2 games not withstanding, these haven't been winning times for the sens. So it's not like we're just jumping on a good times bandwagon here. These have been pretty bad times, and Auld has still won the confidence of the team and most of its fans. Alfie even said as much in the post-game interview last night.

Auld makes the saves he's expected to make. I've yet to see him really steal a game(maybe because this team doesn't score)... but he at least makes the saves he's expected to make. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about Gerber.

Goalies of his calibre are reeaally hard to come by.  You don't let a goalie like him go unless the guy replacing him is as good or better.  The Stars have a prospect in Bachman bu he may be years away..

Because Muckler figured that signing a goalie with one good regular season, a few good olympic games (one particularly against Canada) and no playoff experience would be the answer for this team.

Turco has a 3.61 GAA, a .870 SV%, and a 5.7 million dollar contract.
And has been notoriously average in the playoffs.

No Thanks

You are joking right?
There are good coaches and there are bad coaches, the real question is "Do you want this person to be a role model to your kids for the next 6 months".  That's the question you have to ask yourself.
