I am glad we finally got rid of the little rat. I am pretty under-whelmed by Leclaire but who knows what we'll get for him.
He could drink like hell, he could fight like hell.

Leclaire is done for the year isn't he?  You thinking they are going to dress Gerbs and Elliot and trade Auld?

Excuse my ignorance but why is he done for the year? Injured? How.....

And let's just cut our loses and send Elliott back to Bingo to get the guys to the playoffs.

Auld's a $1m backup who does a decent job.  He was sick last night and probably shouldn't have played.

Keep him and let Elliot get more experience.  Ottawa has to stop rushing goalies.

The Team 1200 were talking about the possibility of Leclair yesterday and it was pretty much concluded that out of all of the goalies available now and at the end of the season he was pretty much the best out there.  Sure he may not have a playoff record to back him up but when you look at the other goalies out there he has more appeal than the rest.

:icon_hiding2: Hate to say but that is almost identical to what was said when Gerber was signed.  :icon_hiding2:

Instead of ragging on LeClaire we should be feeling sorry for him.....  We all know Ottawa is a "goalie killer"....   :icon_hiding2:

Weird....

The e-mail I got from Sportsnet actually suggests the 2nd round pick went the other way, i.e. with Anotine to Columbus.  This is a type-o, right??

Leclaire had ankle surgery and should be fine and he's currently listed as being day-to-day.  Auld isn't going anywhere and Elliott will be back in time for Binghamton's playoff run.

I feel that we're finally looking pretty good between the pipes.

Vermette is one player off my hit list.  His inability to work hard to gain possession of the puck was exposed big time this year.

That's one less cherry picker and of the two....I'm hoping Kelly sticks.

As for Leclaire....time will tell as with most trades....but compared to what we have in our system now....it's a good trade.
Elliot is our future...he just needs time to grow in the NHL.

That would suck.  If so, it's because of Vermette's contract.

On TSN it states that Ottawa gets the 2nd round pick.
Time passes, things change, the Sens WILL WIN the CUP.

Thanks for the update Stone, I appreciate it.  I only follow a few teams and Columbus isn't one of them.

Leclaire just being interviewed by TSN, states that he heard about the trade via TSN.  Also states that he will not be playing this season and is working on being ready for next season.

I won't terribly miss Vermette.  I think it was time for him to move on.

And as I look around at the goalies available, along with the UFAs in the summer, LeClaire may be the best guy Murray could between now and October.

Wish I could see at least a couple starts though.

On Sportsnet's front page their saying that Ottawa gets the 2nd round pick.

That was originally San Jose's 1st round pick which went to the Islanders with McAmmond for Comrie and Campoli.

Not a bad deal.  There was not a lot out there for goalies in the off-season and we got rid of Vermette's contract.

Clearly, there is certainly risk with Leclaire but unfortunately, there are no "Luongos" available. The pickup of a second round pick is nice as well.

Cheers
