His first EVER hat-trick and the cheap ass fans can't even throw that many hats on the ice.

And Moxie, just because you are big does NOT mean you have to fight. He's far to valuable as a defenceman to have to fight to prove himself in your eyes. But a guy like Carkner IS a good fighter AND defenceman but he's not the same as Philips and vice-versa.

But come on, Philips less useful than Smith or Richardson?
Thats a bit of a stretch. Besides, we have carkner for that.

Well, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are too young to have seen these guys in their heyday. Are you guys telling me that if Philips threw down and stood up for his team mates every once in a while he would not be a better player/leader? This type of hard as nails play is why Jason Smith was an will always be revered as being one of the best leaders in the modern history of the NHL.

Didn't Phillips sustain an eye injury earlier in his career? I heared that was the reason he's been wearing a visor and rarely fights. I could be wrong though.
