Doesn't matter, Netherlands is always overhyped and under delivers.

That's because pretty much every decent side they've had has been full of arrogant cocks who hate each other, goin right back to the das of Cruyff and Neeskens. This year's side is potentially good, but defensively they're suspect.

If England keeps getting goalkeeping like the first goal - YES!   That was a brutal goal in U12 rec. soccer.

Bet I could sub in Robert Green's picture and sell some shirts.  Softest World Cup goal I've ever seen.

Incredibly so.  If it was my team I would go absolutely bonkers.  But my team is never there, so I can just revel in it's awesomeness.

France had to be kind of torn though, Zidane singlehandedly won them a World Cup and lost them one.  Though the French coach didn't help them much either.
Zidane singlehandedly lost them that world cup?  :rolleyes

The game went to penalties, and the player that subbed for Zidane scored. The guy who lost them the world cup is the guy who beat the keeper clean but hit the crossbar.

Oh relax.

Ok, so he didn't take the ball down the field and shoot it on his own net.  But you have one of the world's elite players on your team and he takes himself out of the game for an entire overtime and penalty shots.

What player was subbed in for him?  Not during play, so if it's on penalties it immaterial.  Sure someone took his place in penalties, but maybe that same guy shoots in the place of the one who missed?

And France loses to Mexico! And England can't buy a goal against Algeria.

England had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Algeria (and with England playing their 'back up' goalie) and the USA came from two goals down at the half to tie their game.

I won't actually 'cheer' for anyone until the final.  I really can't get too excited about the World Cup.  But I will watch the final and likely cheer on the 'underdog'.

It's nice that the USA doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings so we just keep tying everyone.   :smily1263:

Did you see the US goal that was called back for a foul that the ref never explained, or said who it was on, or what it was for.  FIFA isn't letting the ref do any more games.  US got totally jobbed in that game.
