Karlsson selected to play in the All-Star Game
« on: January 11, 2011, 11:48:51 AM »
http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=66980&cmpid=nhl-rxl-twt&navid=DL|OTT|home#defense

Joining him on D are Letang, Keith, Boyle, Burns, Byfuglien, Chara, Green, Lidstrom, Weber, Staal and Enstrom.
Wonder where he will get picked.

As much as I like him for his skill and being a Senators player I would definitely pick Keith and Byfuglien over him.

I think they need a player from each team.

This is a perfect forum for him. No hitting, no defence, all offence.
Luongo sucks.

Its great for him, despite his -11 he does have good numbers... Only 1 point behind Alfie but playing 2 less games.
8 G - 17 A - for 25 points in 40 games
#15 overall for defensemen.

I might actually watch now and see what Karlsson can do when no one's allowed to touch him.

To be fair, he's been handling the physical play quite well this year. He often gets pummeled in the corners and he still goes back to retrieve the puck the next time.

Btw: TSN held a mock draft (Karlsson went in the 18th round) but Kessel went last overall lol

I completely agree. He's looked read solid defensively the past few weeks. He seems to have a way of stripping a puck carrier without necessarily having to drive them into the boards.

But just imagine him rushing up ice, allowed to just walk around everybody.

I would have to say the benching has helped him out. He still has a lot more to prove though before I consider him a "Real solid" d man. -11 doesn't cut it here.  I see a very talented quick d man thats learning to play d in the nhl. He can take a shot, but what really saves him is his vision. He seems to be able to pick up on the headhunters and hide very well.

Here, on this team, -11 isn't so bad. He's in the top half of our defensemen for +/-

If you wanna compare him against a bunch of underperforming players, go for it.   :bag:

You used the word 'here', so I think I'm allowed to compare him to the other players who are 'here'.
