It's up on TSN...no info though.
Now that I am older, I thought it was great that I seemed to have more patience.  Turns out I just don't give a damn.

Buh-bye to one of the more forgettable Senators.  You won't be missed but hopefully you'll have done some good for this team if the seventh rounder ends up being something.

I thought it might be a round or two earlier, but it looks like there weren't any other takers.

Now it's Conditional...

7th round pick but if the pens win the 1st round and Kovy plays in at least 50% of the games...it turns into a 6th.   :laugh2:

Either way, I was happy just to see him go!!

I hope they don't do some sort of scoreboard tribute to him . . .like for Kelly, when the B's came to town.
In my opinion it would really cheapen the guys who actually deserve such accolades.

Well even in the games he plays, he only gives 50%

:icon_agree:  If they do a tribute to him, it will be very, very short on highlights while in a Sens uni. :smily1263:   Doubt they will, however, since they likely won't want to have the guy booed.  But, thinking about that.................

"Lint and a Halls" would have suited me as well.  Just glad to see him go!

Hmm, define "plays"  8)

Left of the Russian national team, and Jarko Ruutu has more trade value. Bit of a messge there Alexi.

I think Murray should have got Pittsburgh to throw in an old boot a least. To think we got anything for this fall down is amazing!!!

Wow! It keeps getting better!

I think Bryan asked for a signed Crosby stick for his collection but they bargained him down to Kunitz.  Still a good deal.

I dont see the big deal in getting rid of him, he was already coming off the books in 1 month anyways.
I mean I dont like the guy AT ALL. But to give him away for a 7th is kind of pathetic. Seeing your $10,000,000.00  investment given away has to sting
Murray REALLY couldnt get anything more for him?  Not even a 4th....5th even?

I love the message it sends to Kovalev, but a 7th, possibly a 6th, in a weak draft.... not exciting..

I've never heard of a 'good' draft that was seven rounds deep.  I mean a 7th is a 7th, I don't think the perceived strength of a draft matters.

You're right he'd be gone anyways, but I was just tired of his whole act, which is why people are content to see him go.  I'm guessing we only got the seventh because then Pens were the only ones even willing to take a sniff.

Consider this:  Murray at least managed to get a 7th, maybe 6th for his underperforming russian while Zherdev caould be had for nothing.

I was at the game last night and Kovalev did absolutely nothing to contribute in the 5-1 win over the Panthers, which has been typical of Kovalev on most nights.  Good riddance.
There are good coaches and there are bad coaches, the real question is "Do you want this person to be a role model to your kids for the next 6 months".  That's the question you have to ask yourself.

With the way he has played I didn't really expect any more than a late round pick would come back.  Clears a roster spot for someone that will put in a consistent effort.

Here's hoping that Pittsburgh wins it's first round series in and that Kovalev dresses for at least four games.

These extra late round picks will probably end up as career minor league players, but they may also be used on a long shot/project player.  Maybe a goalie that slips on draft day.

I really don't see Kovalev playing all that much under Bylsma and I don't see him getting too many followers in the dressing room when he chooses to critisize his new coach either.  Kovalev is about to run into a coach and a system where if he doesn't play a certain way the coach will finally sit him.  He got away with it with Carbonneau and got away with it with Clouston, but it ain't happening in Pittsburgh.
