I definitely believe the guy in the 2nd clip should be charged, fined and banned for a LONG LONG time. Thoughts?

I watched the hit and read the article. Like they said in the article, if both hits had ocurred with a lengthy space inbetween both hits, then you can call it coincidence. Since they happened in back to back playoff games...then something serious needs to be done.

Yeah, both plays were dirty cheap shots and the players should be suspended for a long long time.
What I don't like though, besides the cheap shots in the video, is the author of this video is blaming these two morons stupid actions on the NHL for not cracking down on head shots. I don't get it. These guys running the goalie and cross checking guys in the back of the neck is purely on the players who did it, not the NHL.
However, I will say this. People who do these kinds of things are meat heads, not hockey players. They don't belong in any league. The NHL could set an example by not letting these kinds of players in the league in the first place. Guys like Gillies don't have a purpose in the NHL. Anybody who has under 5 minutes of ice probably shouldn't be there in the first place.

This has nothing to do with the recent Chara hit etc, just the media piling on. There has ALWAYS been cheap shots in Tier 1. Its got a lot better over the years in fact, same as the OHL. It used to be a gong show. Players like this, and Gillies, Cooke etc serve no purpose to the game of hockey. Hell, I love a good emotional fight when the intensity is up etc, but I am not in favor of the "staged" fights between two meat heads who cant skate, and shin kickers that get away with cheap shots night in and night out. Lose these two styles of players and the game will be much better off. Just dont take away this big open iced hits and the odd bout.

Matt Cooke is an idiot but he's not a bad hockey player.
