Think I have it.  Looks like on July first DH's NTC/NMC became a modified one which let the Sharks trade him with only a 10 team exclusion list.   So the Sharks shipped him out ASAP aftr the NTC elapsed.   More  :A_laughing_matter: x 40

Overheard (and shamelessly stolen):

Devin Setoguchi: "Aw, man, we were so close to a Cup in SJ & I just signed a new deal. But at least I don't have to play with Dany He--WHAT?"

I kinda wonder if Ottawa was on Heatley's no trade list. It seems obvious that it would be, if not in all 10 spots, but there was absolutely no chance Murray would ever take Heatley back so wouldn't he just be wasting a pick? Not Edmonton, though, I bet they'd still take him.

Initial reporting was that Heatley was totally taken off-guard with the trade...didn't see it coming.  I wonder if this is the first time in his entire hockey career that he has been moved without him asking for it.  Has to be a kick in the pants....which looks good on him.  Imagine, 30-years old and being told you're not untouchable for the first time.

Well, that makes a good day even better.  Shock and Awe Baby.  Doug Wilson is one no BS guy!

I doubt Ottawa was on the list as he knew that we'd never trade for him anyways.

WTF is Minnesota thinking????????  :duh

If they are doing it simply for their cap space, they are nuts, and if they are not doing it for their cap space, then they are nuts!   :nutkick:

Sens just signed Konopka.  1 year at 700k.

Yup, 1 year $700k, and 1 way.   Sens have lots of bottom 6 forward guys but other than Neil they suck in the enforcer role.  Lessard can fight but isn't an NHL quality skater or player, so this makes sense.  It also means Carkner isn't in the box in a terrible trade off with the other teams goon.  Makes sense.

Bonus to is that he is a very good face-off guy.

I wish you had posted this a couple years ago.  He could have really helped then.  That's not to say he's no help now.  I've always liked what this guy brings.

Will protect the young ones, I presume... 8)
Now that I am older, I thought it was great that I seemed to have more patience.  Turns out I just don't give a damn.

Ladd signs with the Jets.  5 years, $22 mil.

I like this deal.

Not a fan of this move, being a one way deal and all....  He may win some faceoffs but he's nothing super special.

Now, if you are looking for someone to protect the young guys,... Sens signed Darren Kramer 306 PIM's

Again, not a fan of his.  He can be a jerk in more ways then one.  Some of his antics in the AHL were ridiculous.  Just my  :2cents

Is he ready to play in the NHL now though? We know Kenopka is. I like Kenopka for what he is. Good faceoff guy, can play 4th line minutes and not hurt you defensively, and a well respected fighter.

22 players filing for arbitration today. Wow. Is this a case of players getting more greedy, or are some of these guys using arbitration to trigger a move from their current teams?

I was watching Sportscentre this morning and they said Josh Jorges filed for arbitration.  So, despite being injured a large part of the season he figures he's due for a raise?   :A_laughing_matter: :A_laughing_matter:

Yeah, I saw his name on the list and just shook my head.
