Wild unconfirmed rumour
« on: June 22, 2011, 06:10:39 PM »
But I have heard today that Ottawa are in conversation with Winnipeg about trading Spezza for Zach Bogosian, their #7 pick and a pick from next year. Any thoughts?
We all dream of a team of Chris Kellys.

Don't like it. Spezza is the next captain and honestly our best player.  Sure he earned the nickname Spezzaway but meh, he's still pretty good.

Isn't Bogosian a defenceman?  Why the hell would Ottawa trade their ONLY legit scoring threat for another young defenceman when they already don't have enough room on the blueline for the d prospects they already have (thank you Pylon Phillips and your retirement contract)?

This has got to be somebody in Winnipeg who's still "celebrating" trying to be the next Boo Garrioch.

edit - Rumour is from Noah Love in the National Post who is doing a series on the 7 (God it feels good to type that number again) Canadian teams before the draft.  He earlier said the Sens should trade Spezza, and came up with the Bogosian deal to complete his thesis.

Hmm, confidental doctor's report that shows Spezza's back is so F#$(#ed he will never play more than 20 games at more than 50% so get what you can before he is totally broken down.  Only reason I can think of.   Otherwise, no go.

There has been rumours about Spezza every summer for years now. Nothing new there.

I'll believe it when I see it.
There are good coaches and there are bad coaches, the real question is "Do you want this person to be a role model to your kids for the next 6 months".  That's the question you have to ask yourself.

Round 7 pick ?

The rumors have always been there because he is the only thing of worth that we have.
that said, trading our top forward on a team lacking in forwards for another Defenseman, with lots of D in the system, does not make sense at all.....

Im all for trading Spezza, always have been.
Whats he really gonna teach the young guys?
How to turnover the puck on a breakaway ?

Sure he earned the nickname Spezzaway but meh, he's still pretty good.
Me and the GF have always called him that, but its graduated to whenever ANYONE on ANY TEAM give the puck away, its a Spezzaway. Its not just a name anymore....  :laugh2:

And the Sens analysis was sooo bad, 6th Sens ripped him a new one...

This is the first time I've ever heard that nickname and I've been on this board for a long time, along with pretty well all other sens related sites

These annual "Spezza to be traded" rumours are getting tiresome.

Agreed.  Until I see a tsn text and a story on tsn with video of Bryan Murray announcing the trade I won't believe it.

Funny the articles don't really dwell on Spezza's NTC.

Unless Carter or Nash is coming back, I don't see anything particularly enticing on the CBJ roster that Ottawa would want in return.......

I was thinking the same thing. WE went through this already. If he was going to go, he would have been gone. I don't know how much more clear Brian Murray can make it that Spezza isn't going to be traded...

Now on a more realistic note- the Oilers have let it be known that their 1st overall pick is available, and the Senators are one of the teams that they are considering a trade with. With the picks Ottawa has this year, I think they're in a better bargaining position than the other teams in play. Fingers crossed...

The NTC changes the dynamic so completley it doesn't matter what the rumours are.

And today's wild rumour is that the Rangers are trying to trade Gaborik (salary dump) and they have talked to Ottawa.  Would we want him?  He's made out of crystal, isn't he?
