Waterton, NY shopping
« on: August 18, 2011, 11:07:35 AM »
Other than the Salmon Run Mall and the big Target, is there anything in Waterton for shopping?  We have never stopped to do any shopping there, but will be going by in the next couple of weeks.

I really like the Salmon Run mall and that's pretty much it Waterton.  They have a head shop at one end of the mall that sells great tie dyed shirts.  :-)  Also, the Chinese food place in the food court has the most aggressive employee's I've ever seen.  You can be 100 feet away and if you even glance in their direction, they ignore the customer they are serving, stab a piece of chicken with a toothpick and start waving you over.  It's amazing to watch.

I also find the 2 massive hunting stores in one mall fascinating.

The hunting stores, and departments in big sports stores, in the US are something, and I grew up in Northern Ontario and was hunting at 10 years old.  I can imagine the tofu munching city dwellers eyes popping.

It was pretty weird watching all the red necks walking around in there.  They just make me shake my head.

Watertown also has a very large Walmart but can't think of anything else.  I'll check with my daughter later as she just finished college up in Northern Country.

The Target is supposed to be pretty large, and we don't have one yet.

That's coming. A bunch of Zellers will be transformed in Targets soon.

I've been following that story to.   I don't find much difference between the Wallies here or across the border, and wonder if Target will be the same.

Can't be worse than what Zellers has become over the last 5-10 years.

Target is a much better store then Walmart IMHO.  It is a nice one in Watertown.

My wife spends hours at Kohls, I have got some some good deals there myself (my wife always downloads coupons from the website before we go). Another of her favourites is JC Penny. Salmon Run mall is pretty good.
A friend of mine always hits Big Lots for food and other stuff you can't buy here, never been there myself though.
Whatever you do though, do yourself a favour and have lunch at Panera Bread in the little strip mall in front of Kohls and Target. It. Is. Awesome!
