Sens '11-'12 TV schedule
« on: August 22, 2011, 07:57:15 PM »
Here it is, http://senators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=587247and http://senators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=587092

So far there is just one game not televised, Sens at Panthers on Feb. 15. Have no worries, the Feb. 15 game is on a Wednesday with a 95% chance it being on TSN2. It would be ridiculous if it wasn't televised after having all 82 games on last year.

The totals are:

52 on Sportsnet (45 on SNET East, 7 SNET Sens)
19 on HNIC
10 on TSN

I don't pay attention to these... It's regional. So I'll likely get 10 games here...  :(

anyone know if cbc will actually have the sens games they carry all in HD?  I am tired of this up-converted SD signal they usually have.
its about skill, grit, determination and goaltending but most of all its about heart.

Unless the Sens are the "national" game, or CBC's ponied up for a new truck with the money they saved by not hiring Gilles Duceppe, you'll be watching the Sens on upconverted SD.

You could hook up an OTA antenna providing you have an HD TV with tuner and get the game in HD.  Pisses me off that Bell or rather HNIC shows Sens games in SD, but you can pick it up in HD over the air. At least in the Ottawa area.

Last year, even that feed was just upconverted. Don't count on it being in real HD.

As usual it's just the HNIC games that are an issue. On Saturday of all days. I'm hoping but not holding my breath that they upgrade the online feed this year. I highly doubt it. It's not good enough to hook up to my TV and sit back and watch, and I've never been able to pay attention to games sitting up at a computer or hunched over a laptop. It's just not the same and will never be the same.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still stream the Saturday games. I've done it the past few years. I'm diehard. But they may as well be on radio. I don't view those online feeds as some olive branch to non-Leafs fans on Saturday nights.

Are you talking about streaming games to your TV gared66?  I'm guessing that will be the only way to watch the pre-season games from either SENSTV Online or the Leafs.com to watch this Monday's game.  My Laptop has a HDMI out that plugs into my TV, so I won't be hunched over a computer!

Quote isn't loading up for me for some reason. Rickman, I get it. Using HDMI was what I meant when I said the feed wasn't good enough. I'm not a big fan of laying back and watching a blur. I don't even like to full screen their feed on the laptop. You can't make out jersey numbers. That was my complaint. I've seen higher quality streams on other "illegal" sites, so I don't get why theirs is mediocre.

People joke about how Senators fans hate the CBC. I saw Elliotte Friedman joke about it on Prime Time Sports last week. I wanna make one thing straight... I am not saying that Hockey Night in Canada owes me them covering the Sens nationally. The leafs are a bigger draw. I get it. But what they do is coercive. They're not just showing the Leafs. They are buying up exclusive rights and preventing another channel from showing the Sens. Or Habs in English. They can talk until their blue in the face about how the Leafs are a bigger draw, but it doesn't explain their strategy of preventing audiences from watching other teams on other channels. And that's the problem.

Couldn't agree with you anymore gared66!
This is why I refer to them as TBC, not CBC.  I call them little USA, because they really beleive they are the center of the universe!

As far as the HDMI thingy, I'd rather watch it streamed on the computer, than not at all, but ya, the quality can suck big time for some reason.
I can stream movies in HD or DVD quality, why not Hockey????

P.S.  If you want to watch movies for free, new & old, you can stream movies from sites like putlockermovies (google it).  Movies that are still at the Theaters of course won't be HD quality, but the ones that are already out on DVD are high quality like DVD or BluRay...

Sorry, got a little off topic, but I like getting stuff for free!  No need to pay for stuff like NETFLICKS!  :smily1263:

Not quite the case anymore. January 7 and 21 the Sens are playing in the afternoon and are going to be shown on Sportsnet.

That's right, Sportsnet can televise some of the afternoon games that the CBC decides not to televise on HNIC. The CBC still gets first pick at those games and the Sat. games that they don't choose must be moved to the afternoon instead of the evening. The Ducks game on Jan. 21 was originally to start at 7 PT, 10 ET. While it's nice that Sportsnet can televise it, it still sucks because it is a regional game and Centre Ice is needed. Regional games on HNIC can be seen on time shifter channels and on the CBC website.

The fact is I can't watch any Saturday game on TV this year, with the exception of maybe two, because of the CBC's coercive strategy. At this stage I'm spoiled. I live in the Sportsnet East region, so between that and TSN I can watch pretty much every game on TV except on Saturdays.

People use the playoff agreement and the odd afternoon game the CBC decides not to cover as an example of how they're not monopolizing the national audience into watching the Leafs on Saturdays anymore. But they still are. They really, really are.
