It's too bad we can't honor our soldiers without indirectly glorifying war. In this case there was even a video for the armed forces. I hate selling the forces to kids.

No changes for tonight's game against the Sabres. Anderson starts, Rundblad and Konopka the healthy scratches.

I was expecting the usual swap out of players, but I really liked that Maclean let the guys play at least a couple of games in a row.   Lee was fine, he is just going to get lost in the shuffle until more D injuries crop up.

Difference in the game is the Sabres burying chances, and the Sens hitting the post.  Pretty even up after that.  Great game by K-Dawg - nice passes, defensively very strong and he showed his speed tonight as well.  As a prospect, he never got the top billing and little buzz, but he is playing with poise and being effective.

Had to chuckle during the shootout. It really highlited the lack of forward veteran depth for the Sens.  The Sabres finish with Stafford and Roy, Ottawa - Daugavins and Butler.   But they have to get experience some time.

I really loved the Sabres "Vintage Jersey's" last night!

It woud be sooo cool if you could have the Sens use theirs against other teams wearing theirs, like the old days!

The only reason they went to white against dark jersey's was because it was hard to distinguish the teams on black & white TV!

Question is - why did we allow Buffalo to wear them in our barn?  Does the home team not have the right to wear their home uni's at home?

There's a set number of games where we will wear white at home, which I think is only once. Same as every other team.
We'll wear our third in Montreal.

^^What OS said.  Can't dispute that it was a fairly even game all night.  I believe that the two teams each had two minor penalties as well.

I thought Anderson had another good night overall but I thought he had been 'better' in the previous three shoot-outs but since they're a crap-shoot at the best of times, I can't fault him with the loss during that (although it would have been better if anyone but Derek Roy got the winner....can't stand him, personally).

And it was unfortunate that we hit three posts (Winchester, Greening and DaCosta, I believe).  It's a 'game of inches', as they say, and that was true for the Senators last night!   :icon_banghead:

Excellent effort on Michalek's part for his goal last night.  He can really bull his way through this season! It also meant Anderson's first point as a Senator!

Oh well...good game to watch and now a few nights off until their next game!  GO SENS GO!!!!!!!! :woohoo

Yeah, when Roy was the shooter I had a baaad feeling.  The shoot out pendulum swung back against the Sens last night.

It's too bad they didn't go back to Michalek & Spezza in the shootout!  Can they not double dip???? :smily677:

Ya, I was afraid of that!
I remember in the Team Canada juniors , they kept going back to Jonathan Toews and he got a shootout hat trick!
 That was awesome! :icon_bowdown2:

Ranger game tonight.  Alfie took the pre-game skate with the Sens and has passed the NHL protocals to return to action.  Carknerwas at practice but not taking contact.

Runblad in for Lee tonight.  From Mclean:

“I thought (Lee) played fine for us in the (last) two games, but at this point in time David Rundblad is a better player,” said MacLean. “We took David out to give him an opportunity to work on his body and to get some rest because of the scheduling, and at this point, that’s just the way it is.”

Its seriously time to cut bait on Lee.  If I were him, getting jerked around like he is, I'd be camped outside Murray's office, demaning a trade on a daily basis.

On the other hand, Murray did give him a one way trade at a time that he was untradable.

That goal against was bad.
Bad turnover, terrible effort by Anderson.

Wish they would stop shooting themselves in the foot.  Horrible give aways when they are carrying the game.  Sens are playing more tentative now.

Do the Sens have any toes left from constantly shooting themselves in the foot?
