Surely Weber gets at least a game for this move.  Personally I'd give him 5 cause that was just scary and stupid!

I dont know when I last saw someone actually wrap their hands around another players head and slam it into the glass.  Its insane!!!

It seems like Weber was hit from behind and Zetterberg actually came up high with his elbow. This is probably what Weber was reacting to. Its easier to see on the angles they were showing on TV this morning.
I dont think its right for Weber to do that but I dont think its worth more than a game/fine. Although Weber reacted poorly, Zetterberg probably shouldnt have followed through on that check.

The more I see it the more disgusted I get.

Seriously?  Its the worst thing I have ever seen cause it was plainly done out of anger.  This was a man completely out of control.  Makes Bertuzzi's incident look like an accident to me.

Not just because of the outcome but I dont think this is comparable to Bertuzzi.
Weber reacted poorly, whereas Bertuzzi hunted someone down, and it wasnt even the same game !....

This is ridiculous, I wont disagree. But no more so than a dozen other incidents we've seen thisyear (skate stomping, stick swinging, kicking)....
Keiths elbow on Sedin is another one where it wasn't reactionary, he went out and got him after the fact.

Again, Im not saying its excusable.. I just find reactionary responses to be not nearly as bad as premeditated.

Shanahan said a few weeks ago that he sees each playoff series as a mini-season and so suspending a player for one game in the playoffs is like 10 games in the regular season. So if Weber gets more than 1 game I'll be surprised.

I'm right therfe with you. I like Weber as a player, but this move deserveda suspension. What if Zetterberg had a concussion?
I think "Sheriff Shanny" is taking the wrong approach What he did is essentially announce that infractions have to be extremely serious before a suspension is even considered.
BTW- to put his fine into perspective- it would be the equivilant of fining the average American worker $14.00

Weber shouldn't have reacted in the way he did but Zetterberg did get the elbow up on a high hit.   Not defending either player but it was like one second after the Zetterberg hit that Weber reacted.

Oh ya, the fine system in the NHL is a joke.  These guys can spend that much on lunch and not bat an eye.  Even to fine a rookie this much in his first game is a joke.  It should be percentage-based.  Isn't $2,500 the maximum a player can be fined?  That's a joke considering a coach can get nailed for $10,000 after insulting the officiating of a game.

I didn't know that, but if that's the case, it's a joke. What is $2500.00 to these guys? Sens and Kenopka got a combined $12,500.00 today for Kenopka chirping, while Weber gets $2500.00 for his move on Zetterberg and Boyle and Karlsson get offsetting minors for Karlsson beating up Boyle's fist with his face. The NHL's entire dicipline system, from the on- ice officiating to Shanny's office is a complete joke.
