Had to watch the game on time delay since we had a previous engagement to attend (dinner for our youngest's 21st birthday with his godparents) but we were sure to pick a spot that there was no chance whatsoever there would be a television around to spoil our anticipation of watching the game during dinner!
The game went about how expected.....until Torts called that time-out in the second and then the roof caved in on the Sens who
were taking it to the Rangers with the score 1-0 when he called his team together for a huddle. Not sure what Torts said to his team but it sure was effective! What I found frustrating was, up to that point of the game, Lundqvist had been letting out some really juicy rebounds which, unfortunately, his team-mates were able to get to first and get out of harm's way.
But what I
did like from the Sens was that they ultimately kept going, scoring two goals in the third to narrow the gap....rather than just rolling over and dying in front of a rambunctious crowd in MSG. Of course, it wasn't enough...but it was better, IMHO, than being shut out on the night.
Of course I was disappointed with the giveaways (particularly those that led to Rangers' goals) and yes I didn't like every moment of the game, but I am still sitting firmly on the bandwagon and along with the butterflies in my stomach I am eagerly awaiting game 2 tomorrow night!
And not for a moment am I blaming the refs in any way for the overall outcome of game 1, but could someone tell me exactly why Karlsson got the same two minutes for getting several shots to the face (with the gloves still on) by Brian Boyle? Seriously. What the h*ll was that? The Rangers were effective in shutting Karlsson down for the most part. But having him taken off the ice for, basically, being a punching bag was a bit much for this fan.
Let's put this game behind us and get on with game 2 tomorrow night!! GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!
