Yeah, has he looked at a replay? There is a world of difference between it and the Torres hit. There's not an expert I've heard that says they're comparable. Neil left his feet after the hit, not before, which is more a function of just how big Boyle is. That he bounced off to some degree. Nobody thinks it was late except Tortorella. The only controversy is contact with the head. And I still contend that Neil could not even make contact with Boyle's head with his shoulder on a lateral hit if his head wasn't down.

Yet I am worried because clearly Shanahan was making a statement with Torres' 25 game suspension today. He might feel boxed in and obligated to at least give Neil 1 game to appear consistent. It's bad timing, is all. And Tortorella is playing his hand as cynically as he could be.

This is fun!  Stone, for at least tonight, filled in admirably for Winchester. What a slick pass to Spezza for the game winner  :laugh2:
Rangers will be squeezing thier sticks even harder now.  As for the Neil on Boyle hit, if Shanahan turns around and punishes Neil for that then I give up.  I can't tell what are and are not rules now from game to game, let alone a trade mark Neil Hit where the recipient was cutting across the middle. Given the height difference I can't see how they could call a deliberate hit to the head.  I guess we'll find out over the next day or two.
I'm so looking forward to game 6 at SBP.  Lets go Sens :POMPOM2:

I love the fact that the Rags and their fans are so rankled by Neil. Yes, watch the right hand, pay no attention to what the left hand is doing. He's under their skin.

Tortorella and their fans are complete idiots if they believe that it was a late hit.  Listening to their boos  all night when they didn't get a call did it for me.  They know jack shit about hockey.

As for the hit, if Boyle didn't cut across the middle with the puck and with his head down Neil wouldn't have caught him like he did.  It was a beauty and NOTHING like the Torres hit.  Give your head a shake Torts.

Its just Torts being Torts...he defends his team, and like to talk s***.

He also like to hear himself talk....rarely listens to what comes out of his own mouth tho....

Oh, those poor commentators.  They know anything about hockey other than what skates and wears a Rangers jersey?

^^Yeah, pretty much.  Anyone have the clip of the same commentators when Hagelin hit Alfie?  Wonder if they thought that was "a hit the NHL is trying to do away with"?   :smily1263:

So heard on the Team that there's a TON of Swedish press at gameday practice today and Silverbert was surrounded in his stall.  It was a Swedish press person who asked MacLean the first question in the scrum and, to paraphrase MacLean, "Yes we'll be inserting a Swede into the lineup tonight".  When asked who he responded "Alfredsson.......or Silverberg.....or maybe both."  !!!  Earlier, in the dressing room, Silverberg was heard to respond to a question asking how he was feeling "I'll be fine once the puck is dropped."  !!!

My question is:  if they're both in, who comes out?   :smily677:

Torts gameday presser lasted about 27 seconds (on the time count by the Team commentators).  I didn't hear the one question posed and he spoke so quickly, I didn't hear his answer but I think it was about Boyle.

My butterflies living in my stomach for the past week are in full flight seven hours before gametime.  :icon_vomit:

Yeah those odd man rushes the Sens had in the 1st half of the game were terribly disjointed. Shoot Spezza! Shoot Alfredsson! Christ. A broken pass that quickly goes the other way. Its as though neither of these teams know how to play with a lead. I'm almost not sure if I want them to score the 1st goal in Game 7. It seems like whichever team gets the lead falls into a shell and the other team dictates the game from that point onward.
