General consensus in the comments at TSN thinks it's a good deal. I always liked his attitude.

It was interesting to see the positive comments regarding Neil from posters who identified as Leafs fans. I, too, have always liked his attitude and his commitment to give his all in any game he has played that I can remember. Sure, he has the odd off-night but what priofessional athlete doesn't? He is a real team guy, no doubt about it, and I personally think that the next 'A' available will be put on his jersey.
While I'm sure that a "hometown" discount has come into play here, I also think that with their three little ones and the security that an extension gives a family (you could be traded but at least you have some term to fall back on), Neil was only too happy to sign on the dotted line. Heck! In the past year he has also had a few local deals for commercials, etc. which also goes into the bank account....what's not to like?
