Always the optimist I do believe that the Sens have the ability to still win this series.  Is it likely?  Probably not.  But they could do it.  The Habs will come out cocky and full of self-confidence.  They will be a bit more laid back.  The Sens need to keep pushing strong, crash Price at every opportunity and keep hitting bodies hard.  They need to destroy the Habs and demolish PK so that his emptions get in the way in game 4 leaving them shaking in game 5.  In games 6 and 7 the Habs will be in panic mode and will be overthinking and overplaying everything.  I can daydream right?

I am with you totally on this ^^, BD.  Just a couple of thoughts from the last game:

The Habs were 'hearing footsteps' while Neiler was playing a fairly regular shift Sunday.  Once Neil got stapled to the bench, the Habs suddenly had better 'flow' to their game.  He DID have an impact at the beginning of the game, IMHO.  Not saying that is why the Sens lost...just saying.

Anderson had a very good game.  Not perfect, but lots better than I had anticipated.

Not thrilled with the officiating.  Most of the penalties that the Sens got were penalties.  But I am sick and tired of the same standard NOT being applied to Montreal.  The call in OT against Lazar was ridiculous.

Hearing some nonsense today (likely out of Montreal) that Karlsson's hit on Nathan Beaulieu should now be reviewed by the League now that it's been confirmed that he's out for the rest of the series.  Seriously?!?  Great open ice hit by EK.  Get over it, Montreal!  Injuries occur while playing hockey.  :duh

Heard also today that Smith goes in tomorrow night, Legwand out.  Can't say I'm sorry to hear this.

Great atmosphere in the building Sunday.  Hope Sens' fans ramp it up even more tomorrow!

GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!

I thought the Sens played amazing the first period, as most other people agree.... The Canadiens seemed scared to hold onto the puck for too long and Ottawa controlled most of the period.
That seemed like a team that could make a push.

Heres hoping they can bring that first period intensity and sustain that pressure for 60 mns.

I like the addition of Smith (subtraction of Legwand). I like his style of play and think he's an effective player in the right situations.. I was skeptical about Neal but he was a force on the ice and the Canadiens payed attention when he was out there.

Subban, Prust, and Weiss all showed their frustration last night.

I wonder what the NHL would do if Chris Neil went to Price and speared him. It would be a guaranteed 5 min spearing penalty and a game misconduct, with a suspension likely forthcoming. As it is, the only penalty Prust got was a cross-checking call for what happened afterwards. Disgusting. Such one-sided officiating this series it's amazing the Sens are still in it.

Last nights officiating was the best it has been all series, even though they seemed reluctant to make calls against Montreal, they didn't seem to be taking Ottawa to "task" with every call under the sun.  There were a couple times I wondered what happened to goalie interference.  Is that not in the rule book anymore?

The only thing bitter about tonight was that call.  Great game, terrible call deciding the game.

It's hilarious how Therrien is bitching, moaning and complaining about a close offside that led to the Tampa winning goal when game 6 against the Sens was handed to his team on a silver platter with both a missed high stick on puck call in the neutral zone that led to his team's only goal 20 seconds later AND the Sens goal called off due to a quick whistle when Price never even had control of the puck.

No rispek!

Now just what in the hell are you talking about MH?

I mean, every Habs fans felt they clearly won Game 6 and Ottawa was "lucky" that they even won the two games they did.

As for the high stick, there wasn't just a high stick in the neutral zone.  But Ghallagar knocks the puck down in the offensive zone with a high stick and bats it in with his stick.  Not review-able as the play from him knocking it down to himself doesn't fall within the scope of video replay as it was his batting at the puck that resulted in the puck going in.

Based on the timing of that early whistle, the official had to have had intent to blow the whistle BEFORE the shot was complete and the puck hit Price.  Had he waited to blow the whistle until he truly lost sight of the puck, the whistle would not have gone until after Pageau got his stick on it.

The Gallagher bit, I would agree with you as it was my first impression as well. Anderson himself has come out and said it hit him in the back, so I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, but there's no mistaking the high stick in the neutral zone.

As for the early whistle, you're probably right, but that's a problem in many sports with routine plays. 19 times out of 20, such a clear shot in the crest is caught and held and the ref was just killing play "out of habit".
