I just thought in honour of Fraser being the ref tonight, we'd share with one another our favourite (or not quite so favourite) bad calls and mis-cues that he has made in his illustrious career.

Consider this to be the official Fraser-bashing Thread.

:?: Could we not add: "Both of the above" to the poll.

I kind of like it when most of the players are checking out the action on the big screen, he looks at it to check his hair! Gotta look good for TV, you know, because you never know when an acting scout is watching!

How does he keep it in place for the whole game? He must use about 3 cans of spray. I've never yet seen a hair folicle out of place (maybe it's a toupe and is glued down!).

Oh, yea. He's a crappy ref too!!! While watching one game he was "controlling", that **** whistle of his (which I think is glued to his lips) was used so much that I turned the game off! Couldn't stand to hear that thing again. I swear, he blew it every 30 seconds for the first 2 periods. :x

I have just one thing to say to him:
"Why don't you try practicing random acts of intelligence and senseless acts of self-control?"

Polls are annoying.   :?

I say if you hate polls, get rid of the functionality :P

BTW: I added the all of the above.

Seriously, I am curious as to how this guy has affected outcomes of games in the past. I hear all about him but I'm not a follower of the refs so I'm curious as to why this guy is hated so much.

Do Devils' fans hate Don "have another donut" Koharski?

And what about the Sens fans and the other refs?
I know I don't like McGough (McGoo).  I mean, the name is fitting.  Why does he ref so many Ottawa games (like all the ones I go to)?  Do they do regional reffing or something?  How does the assignment work in the regular season?

I lost my respect for McGough when he failed to call a penalty shot in game 2 of Min-Van series when the Minny player closed his hand on the puck in the crease.  He was standing right over the play also, there is no way he couldn't have seen it.

I am always happier when I see Devorski at the helm... I think Mr Magoo is a good ref for teams like Ottawa, my impression is he is in the call everyhting school? what do you think?

Fraser, fraser??...... he is a horrible actor, although I liked him Cheers!  and was he not one of the Greatest boxers ever?? :P

McGeough was a crummy AHL ref (from what I've heard) that somehow got promoted.  I know he used to call every little thing, but I suspect that in the interest of speeding up the games, he got talked to and now doesn't see anything.

Mick Magoo (however you spell it) is another ref you love to hate.  That name makes me laugh whenever I mention it.

Yeah, I gotta admit...that's a helluva coincidence.  :)  Unfortunate part is, I can tell myself, "Ah, Magoo--you've done it again!" all I want to cope whenever I see something that he should've called, but I swear I lose a little more hockey knowledge every time I watch a game he's involved in...    lol
