Lalime has the same save percentage as Felix Potvin. .903%
Prusek has the same save percentage as Jose Theodore. .923%
As an effort to de-personalize this argument, answer me this:
1) Who do you think is a better goalie Felix Potvin or Jose Theodore?
2) Who has played better this year Felix Potvin or Jose Theodore?
3) Who would you rather start the playoffs with as your #1 goalie Felix Potvin or Jose Theodore?
Clearly the answer to all three is Theodore. And I am going to suggest that Potvin has more playoff experience than Theodore (although I stand to be corrected). However, with that said, what will keep me sane in these days leading up to the playoffs is that there has to be some sort of method to the seeming 'madness' of the Sens' goalie selection. Do I think it makes sense? No. Can I explain why the numbers for Ottawa goalies are not apparently used to determine who plays? No. Do I think that the management have a plan? Yes. Do I think that their plan will be successful? Time will tell.
I am as guilty as the next fan for venting and feeling frustrated and even letting negativism waft into some of my posts. But I will also admit that I am not in the room or privy to the thoughts of those who are. And I am certainly holding onto the hope that they indeed know better than I do what is the best course of action.
I would suggest that the guys try to remember who they dedicated this season to and reach down really, really deep remembering the words that Roger said to them during the Jersey series last spring for their inspiration.
