The catalyst for the question is the fact he just came in to the Sportsplex to work out and it fueled memories of this guy with the Senators -- any reason why he was never re-signed and allowed to walk to Europe? I always liked the way Smyth played the game; hard and physical. I suppose it came down to a one-way or two-way contract?

Maybe he didn't want to spend another year in the AHL. Why don't you ask him? Personally, I'd like to see him back in Bingo as a veteran presence, also able to play with the big club if there's injuries. I think for it to happen though, he would be the one who needs to contact the Sens.
