Sens Talk / Re: Official: Alfredsson back for another year

Should this season be a wash, and it's looking like it will be...then my guess is Alfie would start the next season so that he can retire after at least one home game.  No way in hell does he hang them up with out being able to say goodbye to the fans while in Uniform.

Starting to look that way now Squatch.  I just don't get why these guys can spend more than 10 minutes at a time every odd day trying to work out a deal.  :smily677:

I agree with you TM2K.  Alfie will be a better contributor overall with less minutes. I'm certain he would say otherwise but I think it's the way to go with him at this point...providing we get to see him play again.

I was kind of hoping Bell would pick up the AHL games.  I know Sportsnet is broadcasting some but me thinks they are mostly Marlies.

No, he did mention Chara.  Something to the effect of : good competition, good guys, congratulations to Weber and "C"
I kind of laughed because he probably meant to say Z.

I figured that it would go to either Weber or Chara, but you can't ignore the season the kid had!!!
Congratulations Erik

Gee, I was really expecting to get slammed for saying Neil should get the "C".   :laugh2:
Glad I'm not alone in my thoughts.

I can't see Phillips with the C.  He is a great guy and all, but I just can't see him commanding a room. I'd go Neiler and that's because he is the real leader behind Alfie. I don't care about his role...plain and simple...Neil can spark the team in a way similar to what Alfie does when he puts the team on his back and carries them. After that, I'd have to look towards the new guys...but they need to establish themselves over a couple of seasons.

Sens Talk / Re: SENS knock off Rangers in 1rst round Agreed?????

The game 7 I watched sure looked like the Sens gave the Rangers all the could handle and some.  A couple of mistakes and it cost them.  That's the inexperience that guys like Karlsson and Cowen need to learn from. Otherwise it was pretty much tit-4-tat series.  I mean Gaborik didn't exactly light things up, Spezza was just plain shut down all series and when forced to try an make something happen, turned it over.
You know, when guys like Stone and Silverburg get the opportunity to play in playoff games for thier debuts, I just can't help but welcome the experience this team has now for year two of the rebuild. Afterall, that's what this season was all about. The fact some got thier expectations up after they made the playoffs.....well, what do ya do.  I blame Spezza for having a baby so close to playoffs myself, that's when he shutdown,  :laugh2:

Well hello Bobcat.  Nice to hear from you again.  Takes a real talent to pilot a school bus with lot's of screaming kids....a lot less frustrating when it's something you support.

This is fun!  Stone, for at least tonight, filled in admirably for Winchester. What a slick pass to Spezza for the game winner  :laugh2:
Rangers will be squeezing thier sticks even harder now.  As for the Neil on Boyle hit, if Shanahan turns around and punishes Neil for that then I give up.  I can't tell what are and are not rules now from game to game, let alone a trade mark Neil Hit where the recipient was cutting across the middle. Given the height difference I can't see how they could call a deliberate hit to the head.  I guess we'll find out over the next day or two.
I'm so looking forward to game 6 at SBP.  Lets go Sens :POMPOM2:

On another note, we haven't won a home playoff game since the Spartan incident.
That's it... we need a new promotion....maybe a giant Toga party with lots of women attending from the free tickets being passed around to entice them.  :woohoo

Hey Hank, Welcome...
I would agree the Sens deserved a better fate in game 3, but overall I would have to say both teams have pretty much matched each others intensity and type of games played thus far.  We're still dealing with a team made up of a lot of youngsters so If I have to find some optimism in all of this, it's not so much what happens this year, but rather what our future holds with all this valuable Playoff experience our young guys are gaining.  We certainly have showed up in this series and pushed the Rangers hard IMO considering. The biggest difference has been the chances the Sens can't finish off vs the Rangers taking advantage of thiers. Otherwise, it's anyones series to take at this point.  If we happen to win it, it's all good....but if the Rangers win, and I expect they will despite my picking the Sens to win,  we still win. Who can complain about that?  :laugh2:
Now if  Spezza and Michalek would show up....anything could happen...but man oh I like what I see from O'Brien, Smith, Condra, Greening, Karlsson, Cowen and the other up and comers.  Add in the kids we have in the wings and next year may add up to being a little more realistic for our post season success.  For now, if we can get a few past your tender...all bets are off as to how this series ends up.
